I started rewatching BBC’s Sherlock and then I found this old comic I made back in 2016 when the Abominable Bride came out. Didn’t draw much back then but I remember being so pissed about this conversation that I needed to make a parody about it. Definitely not the only annoying thing in that show...

Anyway, I thought it would be fun to share this, since I don’t have any new She-Ra content yet. :’D Also I pretty much missed the Asexual Awareness Week, so consider this my late contribution.

I headcanoned Sherlock aro and ace before I even knew those words, because I grew up reading the original stories and I felt like he was the only representation I had before I even knew what exactly he was representing for me. So I will always defend the interpretation of Sherlock that actually just takes what he canonically says, at face value. Whether it’s fictional or real people, when aces and aros claim they don’t experience sexual/romantic attraction, people automatically assume it must mean literally anything else except what they say, and the various interpretations of Sherlock Holmes over the years illustrate that perfectly.

When Sherlock Holmes says he has never been in love, I believe him. For me, he is not secretly in love with Irene Adler or John Watson or anyone else. Because having people not believe what you say for centuries would be even more exhausting than what the rest of us go through.

(That being said, I have absolutely nothing against anyone who romantically/sexually ships Sherlock with someone. Only those who think their interpretation is the only valid one.)

How to Find Lestrade - Sherlock: The Abominable Bride

The Special, “The Abominable Bride”

(Happy Halloween! When better for this ghost story?) 

The special opens with “So far on Sherlock”. Greg Lestrade appears in this segment in the background during a Hound scene and saying "oooh, you bastard" when Sherlock returns.

10:43 - 12:24 A mutton-chopped Inspector Lestrade visits Baker Street for a restorative drink and to wish the "compliments of the season" but really to share a strange happening.

12:54 - 14:41 We see the flat in the middle of the street as a scene transition. Lestrade describes the killer bride with "a mouth like a crimson wound", after which Holmes demands "poetry or truth?" "Many would say they're the same thing," Lestrade responds. He then tells of her suicide on her wedding anniversary and her re-appearance.

15:44 - 16:52 Holmes and Watson depart for the morgue while Mary stews about being left behind because they'll be hungry later. When Mary says she's part of a campaign of votes for women, Lestrade asks, "Are you for or against?"

17:49 - 21:46 Lestrade is in the background at the mortuary, where we meet Anderson and Hooper, who is ordered by Lestrade to cooperate with Holmes. (This is also where Watson goes off about "maybe there was a secret twin." Lestrade leaves the scene before Watson reveals to Hooper how he can be "observant in some ways".)

23:01 - 24:40 Lestrade visits Holmes to ask for more help with five murders connected to the Bride. We find out that Watson has moved out and Holmes has been talking to an empty chair.

50:45 - 52:48 Carmichael is dead. Lestrade watches Holmes and Watson argue whether it was done by a ghost, then he points out a tag attached to the dagger. (I love the way he simply says "thank you" when Holmes insults him once again.)

55:45 - 56:50 Lestrade and Mrs. Hudson spy on Holmes, who appears to be meditating, and discuss the case.

1:20:15 - 1:23:32 Exhuming the body in the graveyard, Lestrade and Mycroft are the two who stick with Sherlock after the Watsons leave. That evening, it's down to Sherlock and Greg digging while Mycroft holds the torch. (Warning: gloves, forearms, and a jump scare.)
