We know Dadan was rough around the edges, and didn't seem to identify herself with traditional motherhood, however: She was given Ace from birth and caring for a newborn takes time and effort and a certain amount of tenderness. I think Dadan enjoyed Ace as an infant but didn't know how to deal with a feral toddler. She couldn't have been horrible, Ace thinks of her fondly on his deathbed.

She is feminine. Dadan wears lipstick, jewelry, shows cleavage and keeps her curly hair long and perfectly maintained. This is a woman who likes to take care of herself and has good hygiene. I think she enjoys splurging on feeling like a lady, particularly when she's surrounded by so many feral boys and men lol.

She's a romantic, we see her daydreaming of her younger years as a dainty young lady flirting demurely with a dashing man who shares some similarities with young Garp. I think she still pines for love but perhaps thinks she's too old for her fairy tail. Catch her reading smut like the rest of us.

One that note: I think she and Garp had a fling in her younger years. That's the only reason I can think of for their relationship.

He's a well off marine, she's a thief-- and yet he never turns her in and she never says anything about his authority. After a small on again off again that only ended in her one sided feelings, Garp leaves to get married/knock up Dragon's mom leaving DaDan hopelessly in love with what can never be.

Then Garp shows up with Ace(and eventually Luffy) and asks her to raise him, and she can't say no. It's the family she always wanted with him but could never have.

"Why did you give him to me if you were just going to take him away?" Her response to Garp after Marine Ford is both grief over Ace and the fact that yet again, Garp chose the Marines over love.

Hello, apparently it's Banned Books Week and I wanted to say something about it.

It's makes me sad that my book has become one of MANY to be banned in libraries. It doesn't affect me much personally or financially, but its scary/worrying because Ive been watching this ripple effect over the last few years, it's a reflection of increasingly visibly hateful attitudes in recent years, and we're starting to see similar protests against books and libraries here in the UK, along with the transphobic and queerphobic violence against those trying to stop these bans.

Pls help to stem misinformation. Pls go to protests. And support authors of banned books/share their books with teens and kids who might no longer have access to them!

Here is the comic I made for ace awareness week this year (I apologise for grammar errors and my handwriting, I am not the best at spelling).

I’ve never really came out, because I felt I didn’t have to. Most of my family knows I am asexual and is accepting of it, though there are the ones who just don’t comment on it or see me as a lesbian (none of them know I’m nonbinary).

Due to lack of representation, I never really understood asexuality until I was in my mid-late teens, despite hearing about it when I was 14. I was lucky to grow up in quite supportive household when it came to being gay or bi. But it took me a long time to come to terms with my sexuality and be happy with who I am.

I find ace awareness week (and pride month) very important to me to help educate those that know little or nothing about it, and to help people who may be struggling to understand there is nothing wrong with them. I feel that if I had access to the information I now know when I was younger, then it would’ve been easier for me with discovering my identity.

For those out there who don’t know, I am asexual, greyromantic and nonbinary. It has taken me a while, but I love me for me. I am quite happy with not having a sexual relationship, and as long as I have my friends, I know I’ll be happy. Stay safe guys <3<3<3

Invisible Identities

I wanted to include asexuality in this comic, since it’s asexual awareness week, so I went with the theme of ‘invisible identities’. Being nonbinary, being asexual, and being aromantic are all things that are... not well known. Coming out often involves a vocabulary lesson, people sometimes accuse you of making the whole thing up, or you’re pressured to choose a side: male or female, gay or straight*. But they’re all real things, and the people who really care about you will put in the effort to understand.

The flag badges appear in the order I realised they applied to me: first ace, then aro, then nonbinary.

*Bi and pan people get that too, but this comic focusses on my own identities.
