we don’t get to make the call on this one. any statement made in opposition to the current protests in Baltimore will be summarily dismissed as insidious racist ignorance unless it addresses systemic racism, pervasive silence surrounding widespread police brutality, or one’s discovery of one’s own racism. You can do this.

p.s. if you find this difficult, a easy way to start is by critically assessing how information is framed by the media you subscribe to. this will require you to look at different sources of current event reporting (there are also a lot of articles written about this, easily found via google). true and deep critical assessment requires us to divorce ourselves from the assumption that our perception is the best perception by which to judge circumstances and occurances. Even if in the end we agree with ourselves, this assessment must take place. and remember: entire populations of human people are being brutalized and murdered while you figure this out.
