I can’t help but wonder how different things might have been if Aerea had actually become queen. If she had succeeded and ruled effectively, she might have set a lasting precedent for female rulership within House Targaryen. Jaehaerys and Alysanne are rightly celebrated for their reign, yet it’s difficult not to think of Rhaena’s sacrifices. It's because of her that they got the throne. And while Alysanne fought for Daenerys’ rights as an heir, her silence regarding Aerea feels a bit hypocritical. The recurring pattern of Targaryen women being denied their rightful place on the throne. Rhaena, Aerea, Rhaenys, Rhaenyra, and Daena—each of them had a claim, and each was overlooked, usurped, or dismissed.
Her and Alyssa Velaryon, more so Alyssa & her sacrifices tbh.
And yes it's hypocritical, esp when I am sure Alysanne was and never truly was without a little ambition or desire for legacy and prestige through her kids herself. She might have wanted her own daughters and/or sons to be above her sister's that the opportunity that Jaehaerys' kingship brought, of them becoming rulers like Daemon did. If Aerea had become Jaehaerys' heir apparent instead of just the presumptive heir, I don't think she'd go out of her way to stop that like Alicent and plot, but she wouldn't necessarily be pleased. It's like if a wealthy and kind woman saw her sister's kid would "inherit" a seat in their family's business or board or whatever that's been all or mostly male for ages but wanting her own kids (male or female, and even maybe preferrably female) to do so instead.
Alysanne is still of her time and of a class, thought she was by far the kindest person and more proactive and involved women around at the time.
