So Daisy, like any good kid, loves surprising her mom May
That’s why she never tells her when she’s getting back from one of her space trips :)
May will be teaching a quiet lecture on field mission strategies or something when all of a sudden—
Daisy *bURSTING through the doors*
“CLASS DISMISSED EVERYONE! Your Professor’s favourite daughter is back :P”
“Daisy, you really need to stop doing that!!!”
May will ‘kick her out of the lecture hall’ to ‘have a serious talk about respecting the students’
buuuut in actual fact it’s to give her a bone-crushing hug because God how she missed Daisy...
+ while hugging her May can actually feel that Daisy feels the exact same way and her heart m e l t s
They both ‘jokingly’ refer to each other as ‘mother’ or ‘daughter’ but literally everyone knows it’s not a joke
Including them
Daisy will teasingly insist they have a sparring match because “You probably got rusty at the fighting teaching boring lectures every day..”
“Me? Rusty?”
“What? It’s not like you’re getting any younger.. :)”
“That’s it. I’m kicking your ass straight back to space yoU LITTLE—”
May will completely crush Daisy in the sparring match
(partly because Daisy is smiling so much she can’t concentrate)
When they cool down they’ll make tea and ‘watch’ crappy TV
In truth they just want to sit close by and enjoy each other’s presence
Daisy will rest her head on May’s shoulder and then quietly mumble, almost like she doesn’t know if she’s allowed to say it:
“I missed you so much... mom.”
“I missed you too, Daisy. You know I love you.”
Daisy will let out little sniffles trying to stop from crying because even after all this time and saving the world on countless hundreds of different occasions and witnessing each other’s deaths- still simply hearing May say those words means the world..“
“But Daisy?”
“Hmm?”
“If you ever call me ‘rusty’ again—“

So let’s establish this: Alya adores May
Something about her just makes Alya feel...safe?
Ever since she caught her sparring with some academy students one time for their field training, she fell completely in a w e with how amazingly badass May is
She’s looked up to her ever since
Aaaaand of course has made the logical conclusion that to be like May she has to follow her around l i t e r a l l y all the time and copy everything she does
May will be walking down the hallway and just hear the little pitter patter of tiny feet behind her
Alya, of course, thinks she’s being incredibly secretiveTM as if she wasn’t trying to stalk one of the most skilled SHIELD agents in existence..
May stops walking? so does Alya. She carries on? Alya’s right behind her...
“Alya, what are you doing?”
“i’m learning to be cool, like you :)”
May has to bite her lip to stop from smiling
“Huh. Well, you’re gonna have to get a lot better at secretly following people if you want to be ‘cool like me’”
Alya, obviously, takes that as an invitation to walk almost everywhere with May & they start spending time together more often
Very much more often
May starts teaching Alya self-defence
.......with ‘cool-down’ sessions where the two will meditate or drink green tea while discussing “super secret angent stuff” as Alya likes to call it
In truth it’s just May telling her stories of the team’s various missions while Alya listents like it’s the most fascinating thing in the universe completely ✨s h o o k✨
One time when she gets to the part about Coulson ‘getting very sick’ May gets emotional and Alya decides to hold her hand with her tiny little one
Oblivious to her, May can now feel all the concern and love and admiration the little girl feels for her at the contact and finds it hard to stop the tears..
During one other of such ‘storytimes’ about how May had to hide the iced body of a superior Simmons had shot by accident, Alya asks
“ ..if you kept helping mummy even when she did very silly things... does that mean you really really love her?”
“..I do. I’d never admit it but.. she’s like a daughter to me.”
Huh. If her mummy is May’s daughter, that must make her.... Alya takes a mental note of that
And one time when Fitzsimmons are making their usual fancy tea and ask:
“How much milk and sugar would you like in your tea, monkey?”
She replies with: “None please”
“..None?”
“Mhmm. I’d just like it plain.”
“Okay sweetheart but..since when is that the way you like your tea?”
“That’s the way Nana and I always have it”
“You and..who?”
“Nana”
“....Nana?”
“Mhmm. Nana May.”
Simmons is positively overhwelmed with emotion and gives Fitz the most ecstatic, watery smile before handing their daughter her tea.
“Here you go, monkey. Just like your Nana May drinks it.”
