One More Week

One more week left until I hug him! I could not be anymore excited! I’m very surprised how fast these past several weeks have gone by. Keeping yourself busy helps the time pass. Surrounding yourself by people who help lift you up during the hardest days and even the easiest days help. Holidays were hard, but I know we will get to spend them together one day. For those who are starting the journey with your SO being in basic training just know graduation comes sooner than you really think it does. Dive into the things that make you busy whether it’s work, school, being with friends, a new hobby, anything that takes your mind off of it all. If you have a day where it is hard because there will be days where it becomes hard just remember there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Be independent. Don’t let this situation consume you. Don’t lose yourself because your SO is gone. Do not stop your life because they are gone because you will miss out.

Week 4

This week has been so positive and so much better than last week. I got a surprise phone call and hearing his voice and hearing how happy he is about going into the Air Force made me so happy! It was the perfect Christmas gift! My letter #2 came and even my parents got a letter! I looked at two more venues for my wedding and I think I might have found the perfect one! One of my best friends came with me so that was a lot of fun. Hopefully he thinks so too. Ringing in 2017 with friends! So happy for an amazing week! So excited to hear about BEAST week which is week 5. Less than a month to go!!!!

Final Week of Basic

Well the final week of basic is here. Last week was amazing when I went to visit him for graduation. It surely did go by fast though. It was amazing to be a part of his special weekend with both of our families and his best friend. Next week is off to his technical job training for him and back to college for me. I’m so excited to see where life takes us. It was definitely hard leaving, but we will be reunited soon. Gotta get back to the grind to continue to build the future not only for him, but for me as well. To those who have significant others who are currently in basic or about to go to basic this week or in the future, time goes by a lot faster than you think. Just keep yourself busy and do not lose your independence. Learn to live for yourself while your SO is gone. Surround yourself with people will be there for you when the times that are the hardest come around. Start a new hobby or start going to the gym or work or go to school. Anything really that occupies your mind in a positive and healthy way go out there and do it. Same goes to those with SO that live so far away. Don’t let the absence of their presence destroy you. Kevin and I are slowly approaching the one year mark anniversary for our relationship becoming long distance. It is challenging, but you can do it. I’m here for anyone who needs anything whether it’s to talk, vent, give advice, whatever it might be I’m here. You can do this.

Graduation Week!

Graduation week is finally here! I could not be more excited! I cannot believe how fast time has flown by from the day he left up to now. I’ve kept myself busy and it helped so much. Now I’m just days away until I hop on a plane to go see him. I can't wait to hear all the stories, but more importantly just spend quality time with him and our families. To those who have a significant other in basic time really does fly. Keep your head up. Graduation will be there before you know it and you'll see them again. Keep yourself busy. Don't lose yourself and don't stop your life.

2nd Phone Call

I got a surprise 2nd phone call from him this past Tuesday night. It was a reward phone call for doing some kind of duty. I was getting frozen yogurt and left it there when I got the phone call because I was too excited! It was great to hear his voice again and exactly what I need to get through this final week!

Week 5

Instead of working on my final draft for my essay due tomorrow.....Week 5 was very busy. Kevin was in BEAST week which is his in the field week. He also got his dog tags in a special ceremony. I’m so excited to hear the stories about BEAST week! As for me I kept myself busy with work and my winter class. After tonight I clocked in over 30 hours for the past 5 days since Wednesday. I started my class last Tuesday and I regret taking a class for about 3 weeks that is 3 hours long every day except Fridays. It is keeping me busy for sure. This coming week is the last week before graduation and I only have about a little over a week until I fly to watch him graduate!
