the hotel room is as quiet as a temple, Aki's cigarette smouldering in an ashtray like an incense offering. one of a thousand hallowed grounds that angel devil sholudn't tread on, corruption of god's will that he is.

"You'll never make it to heaven with that attitude," angel remarks dryly, pushing the sucker in his mouth to his other cheek with his tongue, idly trailing his fingers along the edge of Aki's sword.

Aki twitches, but continues polishing the blade without looking up. He brushes angel's hand aside gently and mutters, "Do I look like I give a shit about heaven at this point?"

artificial strawberry candy crystals cement between angel devil's teeth as he bites down on his sucker. the trouble with reincarnation is there's no guarantee he'll be given the chance to find aki in his next life. hell is a much safer bet.

But Aki has long foregone his hellbent path to revenge, though he'll hardly admit it himself.

angel devil flops back onto the mattress, arms and wings spread-eagle beneath him. to be a weapon, uselessly, preciously tended by aki. unable to protect him from the heavens.

"if you say so," he sighs, for want of a prayer.

I’ve been seeing this a lot in the csm fandom, and, why akiangel? Why put them together? Just because they’re two men that come in proximity to each other and you’re starved?

No. This is more about their starving. Angel’s unconscious want for human acknowledgment—human touch—and Aki’s encompassing fear of loss. The trauma and aversion they share together, and how they have both changed each other — not necessarily “for the better” but simply for each other.
