What different types of magic is in your stories? Do people with different abilities (Sawyer and Abner) get their very specific brand of magic from a witch in their family tree or somewhere else?

There are definitely different levels of magic users and different branches that they might focus on. Some are better at potion making than casting spells. There are simple hand wavy things that most people can do (float lighter items like clothes and dishes or flipping the light switch, closing a door). Some people might lean toward protective magic, creating shields and wards. Binding spells are a lot more complicated. There are healers, but there are still diseases that not even their magic and potions can cure. And of course, magic can always be used to attack or harm people. There's also curses and darker magic, things that are very much frowned upon (like what happened with a certain someone *coughcough*).

Sawyer (and I still need to pin down a name for what they are!) wouldn't be able to answer where exactly their supernatual-ness comes from. Their bio-mom showed no signs of being anything, and they couldn't have inherited from their other mom. Since it was all done through a sperm donation, Sawyer doesn't know who their bio-dad is. It could have come from him, but it also could have come from somewhere in their bio-mom's family tree and their bio-mom just never knew about it.

Abner, on the other hand, very much knows that he inherited what he is from his father. And he's always been pretty open and honest with his mom about his abilities, so he's always had her to lean on even with his bio-dad out of the picture.

And then, of course, there are shifters of different kinds. =)

Happy Storyteller Saturday! What is your favorite of your WIPs and why?

Thank you so much! Sorry this is so late!

Ngl when I got this ask last weekend I had a small existential crisis because I can’t really choose. I like my WIPs for their own specific reasons. Sisterhood of Blood is a western that I feel very close to while Feast of Bones is an experimental romantic thriller/horror.

I’m no fun, so I’m not picking lol 😅

Reading it when I’m done :P

But no, I really like the brainstorming part. Where ideas are just flowing and going and it’s all very exciting--that’s the best!
