Alexander’s Steakhouse is a steakhouse founded by JC Chen. Alexander’s Steakhouse can be also found in San Francisco, CA, Pasdena, CA, and Shanghai, China. This establishment is an upscale steakhouse in the southern Bay Area. While it’s known for serving succulent steak cuts, it does feature an Omakase menu of 6 courses. Though it’s a steakhouse, Alexander’s Steakhouse is heavily influenced by Japanese cuisine, as various Japanese ingredients and techniques are used in the kitchen. Some Japanese ingredients used by its staff are yuzu, black cod, and sea urchin. What’s unique about this restaurant is that it is one of the few in the US to have authentic Japanese wagyu. Various steakhouses in the US serve American wagyu, but Alexander’s Steakhouse brings in authentic wagyu from Japan itself.
It is by far one of the best steakhouses in California. From 2011 to 2013, it had 1 Michelin star. This is definitely a tremendous feat for a steakhouse since steakhouses don’t often earn Michelin stars. The only other two steakhouses I am aware of that has ever attained a Michelin star are Peter Luger’s Steakhouse in New York City and CUT by Wolfgang Puck in Beverly Hills.
