Alligator Skeleton in Drainage Canal Big Cypress Reservation FL - January 2017 http://michael-massa-micon.tumblr.com When you are dead, you are no longer at the top of the food chain. I’m not sure what caused the death of this alligator, but he– or she– evidently died in or was brought to the edge of the water. That makes me think it was killed in the water and its body floated to the edge of the drainage canal. After the bugs and fish and birds and natural decomposition were finished with him, all that was left were bones to bleach white in the sun. It’s dry right now in southern Florida so the levels in the drainage canals are down exposing interesting things such as the remains of this five to seven foot alligator.. MWM
