Wow. I was wholly unprepared for the power that #AlanisMorissette exhibited on stage tonight. She is, unquestionably, one of the defining voices of my generation and I was reminded why she speaks for me and for millions of other people worldwide. She and I are the same age, with her being just 1 month older, and I guess I’ve kinda grown up with her music. I was just floored by her performance tonight - the first I’ve seen in far too many years. I love how she took every opportunity to change the male pronouns in her lyrics to female ones, like this line in #AllIReallyWant:

And I am fascinated by the spiritual WOMAN / I am humbled by HER humble nature, yeah

And I was struck by how rel-uh-vunt her songs like #HandsClean are still today. When she sang #Ironic and changed up the lines:

It’s like meeting the man of my dreams / And then meeting his beautiful … husband

The crowd erupted in cheers, and I actually started to tear up and cry. She’s been singing that lyric change for years, I’ve heard it many times but for some reason - all these decades after I first heard her debut album back in the summer of ‘95, after becoming the man I’ve grown up to be - @Alanis fucking made me cry tonight. I love her so much.

It was an absolute joy to watch her sing and play guitar & harmonica and run around the stage, flailing her arms and whipping her head around (tho without her trademark long flowing hair, which she cut all off) with reckless abandon. This woman … what a force.
