Future Memories

My mind moved into a place

my body never got to.

A future

that I already lived in.

It sits there waiting for me,

but slowly fading away.

It’s where I belonged,

or so I believed.

Now I’m left with future memories

of what was planned,

what was sacrificed for,

what I was willing to give

to see this come true.

I never gave up,

but now I’m forced to accept a new path,

one with different possibilities

and second chances.

But I will be haunted.

I will live a different timeline

when I think back

and always wonder:
