Even in the midst of emotional turmoil, Mazey Haze is ‘Always Dancing’…

Matched with hazy, lo-fi visuals, the Amsterdam-based singer/songwriter’s self-reflection unfurls at a restless pace, journeying atop a sea of psychedelic-tinged dream pop. Although difficult at first, she learns to adapt to her new surroundings, able to feel the weight lift from her shoulders by the time the song reaches its blissful crescendo, with the anxiety felt in earlier verses almost forgotten.

As she explains (via Turtlenek):

‘Always Dancing is a song about having an intervention with yourself after a rough period where lots of things have drastically changed. Trying to figure out what it means that you have been doing and where you want to go (for the first time). Realising you have to adapt to this new situation and wanting to grow with it so you can move forward. Being closed off after giving yourself away too easily, without thinking about it. For me personally, this song is about my first realisation that I can and need to take control over my own life. I was starting to feel quite okay while being alone and started seeing the first bits of light after (what felt like) a long time of darkness.‘

Mazey Haze takes control on indie-pop marvel ‘Always Dancing’

Amsterdam-based indie-pop artist Mazey Haze releases her new single ‘Always Dancing’ – the title track from her upcoming debut EP out October 22 via LUSTRE.

A song which sees Mazey looking inward, reflecting on where she finds herself and taking control of her own destiny, ‘Always Dancing’ drifts in on back of a lilting guitar movement, backed by crisp synths and a swell of warm percussion, with the refrain "I gotta find my way back" closing proceedings in wonderfully cathartic fashion.
