NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio and First Lady Chirlane McCray at the stroke of midnight on #newyearseve2016. This was my first picture of 2017. As a kid from the Bronx, I'm honored to officially work at City Hall and document some of the most exciting and defining moments of our time. Follow my Instagram as I photograph life from the Bronx to City Hall and all of New York City. #alwaysnewyork #bronxphotoleague #nycmayorsoffice #documentary #2017
When I say I miss New York I don’t just mean that I am homesick.
When I say that leaving New York was a culture shock, I mean it.
Somehow being from the most diverse place in the world makes other less diverse places seem scary. I don’t trust cities and towns where everyone looks, thinks, and acts the same. New York is home because it is where I was raised but New York is also home because it embodies who I am. I am accepting and compassionate and open-minded because that is what being a New Yorker is all about. So while many previously blue states turned red this election I didn’t once doubt where New York would stand.
This is New York. Nothing about who we are changed on Election Day. We are always New York.

This is how you do it.
