Hey can someone tell me the reason (besides obvious racism) why there's so many goddamn Alya Salt fics who treat her like she just betrayed Marinette for no reason and was Lila's bestie, when all she did was say "Mari, you need evidence before saying Lila's a liar"? Like seriously, there's SO many fics that have Alya as the baddie who Nino needs to either get away from or mindlessly follow?

What's your opinion about Alya salt?
0/10. Do not like. Leave my girl alone.
Look, not everyone has to like every character, but the Alya salt is out of control in this fandom. It's to the point where people turn this sweet and loyal girl into a cruel and heartless bully in a way that doesn't even vaguely resemble who she is as a character.
And often times this is done either in the name of Lila takedowns or Chloe redemption (or both), which is really sad because I do love both of those things, but when I see the "Alya salt" tag added onto fics with those elements it turns me away.
It's a thing that I have seen with other characters and in other fandoms too though, where the fic writer wants one character to have the role another has in canon (best friend, significant other, etc), so they completely villainize the one with the canon role in order to get them out of the way, but it's just a trope that I don't care for in any form.
Bro the hate Alya’s been getting recently is gonna make me crash out fr fr-
My problem with the whole "it doesn't make sense why Alya doesn't believe that Lila is lying" criticism is that Alya has never seen Lila (or whatever her name is) lie at all.
Marinette only knew that Lila was liar because that was literally how she was introduced to her. Lila made up a story about how Ladybug saved her life, this made Marinette keep her guard up the whole time she was meeting Lila. Then immediately jumping into action the second she blinks in Adrien's direction, revealing that she's a liar to him too, made it so that both of them knew very well that she was lying the whole.
This is also why her lies feel over the top and silly to us, we've always known that she's a liar within the first 60 seconds of getting to know her. We've always been seeing Marinette scowl about how ridiculous her lies are. We've always seen how she lies. That's why her lies aren't believable to us.
When you look at it from Alya's point of view, she's only known Lila to be a sweet heart and her only lie being that she was friends with Ladybug (and let's be honest, a lot of kids out there say they're related to famous people all the time as a way to fit in).
I'm not denying that the logic in ML can be a bit silly at times but when it comes to people believing that Lila is a liar, there's never been a reason.
I just saw a tweet of someone listing who Marinette's actual friends are. Which btw are Zoe and Kagami. And yknow what. Fine. That's fine. Not a big problem right?
But then they put in fucking Sabrina. Instead of alya.
.
She did ONE. ONE. Good thing for Marinette and suddenly she's much more valuable a friend than Alya?????????????
Lets forget the fact that she basically tortured Marinette along with chloe throught the whole season 1, and still willingly catered to chloe's scheme even beyond that.
Y'all want female characters to make mistakes until they ACTUALLY do and then all of a sudden it's "BANISH HER TO THE GALLOWS "
Crack Prompt: Alya and Adrien were assigned to do a project and Adrien suggested that they work in his house.
It also leads to Alya snooping around and Adrien having to reel her in and then they discovered that Adrien’s father is Hawk Moth.
Adrien instantly gets into a spiral and Alya is there to reassure him during this. They came up with a plan to steal the brooch but also to mess with Gabriel for being a shitty father and villain.
Or in layman’s terms, Adrien goes through a teenage rebellion phase with Alya encouraging this while making sure to support Adrien and threatening to expose Gabriel being a terrible father thanks to Alya’s influence as the Ladyblogger and being best friends with the babysitter of Nadja’s daughter.
(Marinette is blissfully unaware of this because she’s too busy having her brain melt into mush at seeing Adrien in leather outfits and looking absolutely fine)
Bonus if it ends with Rena and Chat just telling off Gabriel after he reveals his plans with the wish and Rena giving Gabriel her absolute terrifying speech of how he should allow his son more freedom or else she will make his life a living hell.
(Let’s say, if he doesn’t comply. She’ll make him her big sister’s new punching bag)
Also, it would be funny if Alya figured out Adrien’s identity during this or Plagg simply said “Screw secret identities” when the duo found out who Hawk Moth is and exposed himself to comfort his holder
I swear to god, ya’ll gotta stop it with the freaking Alya salt. The fact that there is so few fanfics with Alya being on Marinette’s side or at least she gets a redemption and properly apologized to Marinette makes me think ya’ll don’t really understand Alya as a character and only use her as a plot device to add more drama to your prompt/fic.
The same is applied to Adrien as well.
It seems like no tag is safe from salt because I literally saw a cool prompt that was tagged Marinette sugar and it’s about Nino being the one to see through Lila’s lies and then I was slapped with the Alya salt.
