a cropped button-up daisy-printed shirt
an unfettered heart beneath,
a pair of high waisted denim jeans
filled out by genes,
a black leather belt with a three-piece silver buckle,
anchored lover in the loops,
a finger or two twirling fine blonde tousled hair
when i'm caught off guard,
a kiss on the forehead,
an unspoken language,
a heart-shaped ring of filigree and silver,
mori pressed to gossamer skin,
a mason jar with the finest honeysuckle,
dabbed in sacred places meant for another,
a dream to pin hopes on,
and hands behind closed doors,
a queen sized bed much too small,
and my pugs snoring at my feet,
a sister, a daughter,
a niece, an aunty,
a red tree,
and a poppy to keep it safe,
a mind stuttering on time and stamps,
always reaching for constellations,
a shot at the night,
i'm once in a lifetime.
