The blond was basking on the rocks, his scales shining lightly from the steady sunlight. Anders was pillowed across the coils of his tail and his arms were under his head. It was only the vibrations of footsteps coming through the rocks that had his head snapping up and his whole body tensing. 

A single thought later and he slid his upper body under the weight of his coils, peering out from between them as he knew there would be little to no time for him to get back to his clothing. He really hoped he could coax the human into keeping his secret, he really didn’t want to have to move again. A thin tongue darted out from between his lips, tasting the air as he listened. Once the human rounded the corner he twitched slightly, a human female and she had a dog with her. ‘Shit.’

The gathering of folk sheltered from the hammering rain and terribly strong, cold winds had grown in number since the beginning of the evening and indeed, a few of those of whom lingered within the cave system had caught colds or housed injuries from their travels to safer places and the elf had taken it upon himself to offer aid to as many as he could. Vials of healing draughts were brewed with the herbs he had on his person over a campfire and thus handed them out to those of whom needed them most. “Do you need anything?”

Perhaps ‘champion’was just a glorified title for custodian.
