October 11th will be the debut of NYPL's new limited edition Spider-Man library card, and it will also be the beginning of our Open House Week! Today was the first day that we could open the bins of stuff that arrived at our branch, so here are a few unboxing pictures for you. And yes, our children's librarian is VERY excited about the new cards :)
BONUS: We've also been preparing to make displays based on our favorite webslinger, and those books and movies have started to arrive:
Stop by your local New York Public Library branch next week (starting on Tuesday October 11th) to celebrate NYPL, Spider-Man, and all kinds of superheroes! Each branch in our system will be having different displays, events, and giveaways during the week.
On a related note, on Friday October 14th at the Kingsbridge Library, kids ages 5-12 can join our Superhero Button Making for Kids program, and teens ages 12-18 can join our Design Your Own Superheroes & Supervillains program. We'll see you there!!!

Starting Tuesday, October 11, NYPL and Marvel are celebrating the power of reading with a limited-edition Spider-Man library card, featuring classic comic book images of Spider-Man in the 60th anniversary year of his first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15. Swing by your nearest branch across the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island to pick up your new card—while supplies last. Plus—did you know? There are no more late fines on borrowed materials!
