Relief of Min-Amun

Min-Amun is Egyptian god of fertility and harvest, depicts him as he was commonly portrayed, carrying a flail in his right hand while simultaneously holding his erect penis in his left hand.

Human fertility has always been a topic of curiosity and devotion. Many cultures consider fertility to be a necessity for the survival and perpetuation of mankind and since early times, myths were created to explain this fabulous process.

Fertility gods were ubiquitous in numerous ancient human cultures and were used both to understand fertility and to cope with infertility by means of rituals and offerings.

Relief depicts the fertility god Amun-Min, shown in his ithyphallic form, in the Temple of Luxor.

I'm moving house next year and felt as if I needed a little help with getting through everything. I wasn't sure who to pray to, but suddenly got the strongest urge to pray to Min. I don't have a twt for Min, so Amun-Min it was. It's interesting because I felt I'd never fully connected to this twt of Amun until now.

I used a traditional grounding exercise. I had a few images of Ancient Egypt in my head and, in hindsight, I should have probably mediated on the, to see where they'd take me, but I was worried about not finishing the grounding, so I kept it simple. Not helped by my cats climbing all over me and one of them getting into my lap.

Anyhow, I think Min has a very strong, primeval energy. Very masculine. Very instinctive. Not something easily put into words. Also, things I need to connect to more in myself, so there's that.

I was a little nervous, as I haven't done a proper ritual for a while, and I do find nerves cause intrusive thoughts, or just distractions. Very annoying. I hope I'll get better at this. 😝

Senusret I before Min-Amun

In this relief King Senusret I presents offerings to the god Min-Amun, shown in his ithyphallic form.

Min, Egyptian god of fertility. He was invoked for animal. vegetable and human fertility. He is represented in human form with legs placed close together like those of a mummy and an erect phallus. A flail is depicted above his raised arm with its hand extended to one side. He wears a tight scull cap on his head with two lofty plumes and two streamers hanging down the back.
