Bronze Age Greek (Mycenaean) sword & dagger, 15th century BC
My Roman Empire is Ancient Troy. Funny enough, it’s also Rome’s Roman Empire
apologies, it seems my hand might have slipped...
During excavations at the Odeon of Troy in 1993–94, archaeologists uncovered a stunning life-sized marble statue of Roman Emperor Hadrian (117–138 AD), clad in full armor. Remarkably well-preserved, this statue highlights the importance of Troy under Roman rule and recalls Hadrian’s visit to the city in 124 AD, when he sponsored major renovations.
Today, this masterpiece stands proudly in the Troy Museum, Çanakkale, Turkey, offering a direct link to a time when Troy thrived as both a cultural hub and a tourist destination of the Roman Empire.
Hektor whatever you do, DO NOT KILL PATROCLUS. And, more importantly, DO NOT FACE ACHILLES IN ONE-ON-ONE COMBAT AFTER YOU HAVE KILLED PATROCLUS.
There is no need to raise your voice. Why would I seek to kill Patroclus? He rarely fights, and when he does, it is seldom anywhere near me.
I am not a man who strikes blindly or destroys without reason...so compose yourself. My life, my wife, and my family matter far more to me than such needless acts and unimportant men. 🥱
oh my god i’m gnawing at the bars of my enclosure rn this is crazy
you’re telling me that not only is ‘Priam’ an epithet of sorts, but also that Priam’s real name is “Podarkes”? ‘Podarkes’ which is much more famously an epithet for a different hero, the hero that killed Priam’s son and destroyed his city? For Achilles???
Priam’s name is Podarkes and Podarkes’ name is Achilles someone shoot me rn
Researchers have found chemical evidence of wine consumption in ancient Troy, confirming a theory by Heinrich Schliemann.
These are supposed to be renders of Hecuba, Queen of Troy, wife to King Priam and mother of Hector.
I feel like there's a lot more Hollywood in their costumes than anthropological evidence. The first one looks kinda ... medieval?
Also, the Latin script behind the last figure on the wall is wrong on two accounts. First of all, it's gibberish which Midjourney loves to do and it's in the Latin alphabet. Any writing would probably have been in some sort of cuneiform in Anatolia in the late bronze age. The Trojans were probably allies or vassals of the Hittites. Even the Mycenaean Greeks didn't use the alphabet of any sort yet. They were still using 'Linear B.'
