Genuinely obsessed with this text based game I found called Degrees of Lewdity— but not for the sexual content. The gameplay loop of trying to keep up good grades, social status, clothes, and having to find increasingly fast ways to make money to pay off Bailey (the owner of the orphanage the PC resides in) is genuinely just so satisfying.

The original DOL is alright, but DOL+ is what I play on, and what I prefer due to the balance changes and the better game customization. DOL’s sprites aren’t always my favorite thing, but there are multiple mods that fix that* (and they work with DOL+) so it isn’t a huge issue of mine— my biggest issue is combat traits and how it effects the romance routes.

I don’t mind the battle system (it revolves around unwanted intercourse, which effects your character’s stress, pain, and trauma stats) but it isn’t my favorite thing in the world- and sometimes it feels like they go on for a long time (especially when the PC is in too much pain to move)- so I tend to try to either avoid it completely, or upgrade my physical abilities to make my attacks stronger, (which can end encounters much quicker) but…Having too high of a defiance trait can just totally fuck you out of the easy road to a romance route. Eden is a good example, because if you have too high of a defiance trait it’s basically just ‘how long will it take for my defiance to finally diminish enough’ simulator. It wouldn’t be so bad if battle encounters weren’t so often, or if delinquency didn’t also up your defiance, but it does. Genuinely just want to wring the random battle NPCs by the throat sometimes because OH MY GOD.

Anyways, rant over, DOL is really fun despite my gripes, and if certain things aren’t triggering for you I’d totally recommend it (especially because you can tailor it a bit to your preferences if you choose advanced over basic).

*they don’t change the battle sprites, and a lot of the clothing options aren’t added in, so it’s a little disappointing.
