Fun facts!!:
Jax was originally supposed to have pie cut eyes for the flashbacks.
Chapter 2 was supposed to have Dobby/Scratch as Ribbit's abstracted friend, but it was changed shortly after Episode 7's release.
Mousey's name was inspired by ironmouse! And Mousey's heart shape tail is based on ironmouse's ahoge.
Yes, Caine's greeting in Chapter 2 is a Deltarune reference!!
The lady in the bar from Chapter 3 is based on Francisca I. from the Frankelda franchise.
The NPCs in the Developer Level are based on the Pianta from Super Mario Sunshine.
y'all, deciding the colors for the volcano adventure took so long 😭😭 had to recolor thrice and i had to reshade the ground twice 😭😭 fuck volcanoes man
Since we have no canon basis for Ribbit's personality, I decided to portray them as youthful 🌼
Caine's welcome back message in Chapter 4.2 is a reference to Glitch's Sunset Paradise!
Sometimes Jax masks in front of the others, but with Ribbit, he tries to avoid it.
The promo images are inspired by the Steven Universe promos!
okay so in chapter 4.2 kaufmo and kinger were supposed to be with the others at the end of the chapter therefore making them witnesses to the small jaxbit quarrel, but i forgot to draw them so i had to come up with a creative solution in chapter 5. so i added the scene of kaufmo viewing from a distance and the kinger jumpscare which tbh i like this version more tis funny innit
My favorite page from this series had to be scrapped to fit a dialogue rework (Chapter 5) 😭😭
Chapter 5 is probably the chapter with the most rewrites... it was hard to get right...
Kaufmo has megalophobia
Gangle is a nyan neko sugar girls enjoyer (i've never actually watched the show is it good)
The entire script in detail was completed back in October 25', and the majority of the comic was sketched (latest being drawn in November). now u see the unfortunate thing is that my comic making and writing skills have improved since then and i've been rewriting and redrawing most things,,, the lesson here is to not be a perfectionist and to just START what youve been wanting to do 🎓
also the main storyline hasnt been affected by ep7+ with the exception of minor details (ex: mousey)
Originally, majority of chapter 7.1 was exposition but then i added 20 more pages so the story made sense LOL
At the beginning of chapter 7, ribbit was originally supposed to be disassociating in one of the circus rooms; that room was supposed to resemble the parachutes kids do during gym class iykyk
The murder mystery adventure in The Last Adventure is dedicated to my 4 year long amongus hyperfixation iykyk
A while back i posted a one shot comic of caine giving ribbit a book on constipation because he misheard constellation. that's what ribbit was complaining to jax about in chapter 7.1 LOL
The original costumes for The Last Adventure were much different than the costumes shown in the comic. the outfits were more wild west-y but i changed it to a more victorian nobility style since it fit the train environment more
The promo image for chapter 7.1 was inspired by wicked!!!
The train in The Last Adventure was inspired by Casey Jr from dumbo
wow it is really hard to draw ribbit crying i had to redraw them like 100 times
[OBSOLETE] How to run The Sims 3 with DXVK & Reshade (Direct3D 9.0c)
Disclaimer from Author [2026/04/12]: This guide is outdated, and contains unoptimised recommendations that can cause performance issues. I no longer endorse this guide, nor will I provide troubleshooting support should you decide to follow it. Check out this updated 2026 guide on how to install S3SS, DXVK, and ReShade instead.
Today I am going to show you guys how to install Reshade and use Direct3D 9.0c (D3D9) instead of Vulkan as rendering API.
This tutorial is based on @nornities and @desiree-uk's awesome guide on "How to use DXVK with The Sims 3", with the goal of increasing compatibility between DXVK and Reshade. For users not interested in using Reshade, you may skip this tutorial.
If you followed nornities and desiree-uk's guide, it is strongly recommended that you start from scratch, meaning you should uninstall DXVK AND Reshade completely. Believe me when I say this: it will save you a lot of time, frustration, and make your life so much easier.
For the purpose of this tutorial, I am on patch 1.69.47 and running EA App on Windows 10, but it should work for version 1.67.2 on Steam and discs, too. This tutorial does not cover GShade.
Before we start
Backup your files, even the entire folder (Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin) if you want to be extra safe; you will thank yourself later. If you do not wish to backup the entire folder, at least backup the following:
Keep them somewhere secure, for your peace of mind (and sanity).
Done? Great stuff, let us begin!
Step 1:
If you installed DXVK following nornite and desiree-uk's guide, go to the bin folder and delete the following files to fully uninstall DXVK, we are starting from scratch:
d3d9.dll
TS3.dxvk-cache
dxvk.conf
TS3_d3d9.log (or TS3W_d3d9.log)
Step 2:
If you already have Reshade on your PC, uninstall it using this: https://reshade.me/downloads/ReShade_Setup_X.X.X.exe (replace X.X.X with version number)
Step 3:
Perform a clean install of Reshade (I am using the latest version - 6.4.1 at the time of writing). Please note that you need a version no older than 4.5.0 or this method will not work. Choose DirectX9, click next.
Once the installation is complete, you should see a "d3d9.dll" file inside The Sims 3's bin folder (Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin):
It may all seem familiar thus far. Indeed, this is how we installed Reshade in the past before using DXVK, but here comes the tricky part:
Step 4:
Create a new folder outside of The Sims 3's game folder (I created it on my C drive), name it "dxvk" or whatever else you like. Remember where you saved this folder, we will return to it later.
Step 5:
Now we need Reshade to load the next dll in order to chain Reshade with DXVK. Click on the search bar, and type in "View advanced system settings".
Click on "Environment Variables..."
Under "User variables", click "New..."
In the new pop-up window, find "Variable name:" and type in:
RESHADE_MODULE_PATH_OVERRIDE
for "Variable value:", paste in the directory that leads to the folder we created earlier. Once you are done, hit OK, and then hit OK again to save the changes made.
You can use Command Prompt to check if this new environment variable has been registered by entering:
echo %RESHADE_MODULE_PATH_OVERRIDE%
It should return you the folder's location. If not, make sure you have typed in the variable name correctly and confirm the folder's location.
Step 6:
Download DXVK (version 2.3.1) from here: https://github.com/doitsujin/DXVK/releases/tag/v2.3.1 and unzip "dxvk-2.3.1.tar.gz" (I use 7-Zip, but winRAR works, too). Remember to choose x32, and move only "d3d9.dll" to the folder we made earlier.
Now we have two "d3d9.dll" files, one from Reshade (lives in the bin folder), and the other from DXVK (in this new folder, outside of The Sims 3 game folder).
Step 7:
Download "dxvk.conf" here: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/blob/master/dxvk.conf delete everything inside, and enter the following:
The first 3 lines are taken from @nornities and @desiree-uk's guide.
The last line is only for debugging purposes. Due to the inconvenient location occupied by the HUD (top left corner of your screen), it should be removed once the installation is successful.
Step 8:
Drag "dxvk.conf" into the bin folder, where Reshade's "d3d9.dll", "TS3.exe", and "TS3W.exe" all live.
Step 9:
Now fire up the game and check if both are showing up:
Lastly, check for “TS3.dxvk-cache” in the bin folder:
If it is there, congratulations! You have successfully installed DXVK and Reshade utilising D3D9 as API! You can now go to "dxvk.conf" and remove its last line "dxvk.hud = devinfo" and have fun! :)
Hope this tutorial isn't too confusing, the last thing I want is to over-complicate things. If you still need some help, comment down below or send me a DM/ask, I'll try and troubleshoot with you to the best of my ability.

Heya, it's time to present the final version of my beloved Antje. I worked on her since late 2019. It was the very beginning of my new era lol. I started writing Deep End where she have the support role and she should have look exactly the same as her real prototype. That's the goal. I had to admit - her face wasn't that easy to recreate. (Like Adrien's too). But i did my best to get even more resemblance by making a low-effort skinblend and it came out super gorgeous! I'm gonna show you results in the details. Pictures are slightly edited and taken with reshade.
Let's get started.
1. Portrait Zone
The first thing that triggered me in her face is her dark and "muddy" cheekbones. It was the skintone and the blush itself fault. Skintone have multiple colors on the face (some zones are yellow and some are pale & bluish) and it was disturbing to constantly remove this effect on portraits. Now this problem solved! Her face now have smooth colors with warm pink/peach undertones (which i usually remove to get the "porcelain" skin) and smooth cheekbone line. The other important part that may be not really visible is that her neck got shorter to fit the resemblance.
2. Face Proportions
When it gets to the skintone changing - sims may lose some details that makes them resembling. It does happened to Antje but it wasn't that terrible, because i blended some parts of her previous skin (Ephemera's Fresh) and the newest one (Simpicient's Tranquility) I blended eyelids, nose and lips to save the definition. I've added a cheekbone definition to make colors smoothly looking (makeup part not really worked with her) and it gave me an ability to make cheekbones a little lower which looks more accurate. Some little touches i've made: slightly reshaped the lips (they've got "sharper") and widener the jaw. I think i will do some changes in future, because chin and eyes are slightly off to me. Yeah, i'm the perfectionist, but anyway, i love how she comes out in general.
3. Clavicle & Cleavage Details
When i seeked some photos of Antje for references, i noticed that her clavicle and cleavage are not that subtle as my Antje. It's more soft and flat. Anyway, previous version looked unrealistic to me when i took the pics of her body in lingerie. Something was off to me. That's also the reason why i decided to experiment with skinblending. But in fact, i didn't changed the body. I just took original from Simpicient and i really liked how it looks on her. Textures are more realistic and details are smooth like Antje should have.
4. Belly & Spine
Honestly, i don't like how previous belly looked like. It's kind of dystrophic for a middle aged woman. It should be just flat in my view. And again a yellow tone looks a bit odd. Yeah, she still have ribs at the second pic but they're not that obvious now. And a neat button as bonus, lol. Spine is my favorite thing about Antje. She have unusual body shape for a woman - reversed triangle. It's always called "less feminine" and etc. but i found it very sexy. I really love how her spine looks like especially with wide shoulders.
5. Legs
It's the most boring part for me, lol, but they look fine in both variations. That's all. Second ones are just better textured as the whole skintone does. Knees are slightly controversial to me. Maybe, i will rework them later.
6. Misc Parts
These are the smallest improvements, but i decided to show like everything (except nude parts, sorry, but we're on tumblr).
That's all i wanted to show you. It's a little, but honest work :D I love the way Antje transformated just by changing a skintone. She became "older" and that's what i wanted to get. I wasn't sure that i have any luck with skinblending, because all my previous efforts were too bad. This one is a small but important step for developing my favorite character.
As storytellers, there are so many pieces of our craft and I'm curious how you would rank each step of the process. Rank each of the following on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 lowest, 5 highest):
Setting up the scene (building sets, decorating, etc),
Posing the sims (creating / find poses, and setting up the sims), Styling the sims (cc hunting, time spent in cas),
Writing the dialogue/story,
Editing the photos.
Was tagged by @changingplumbob
Thank you Kirsty!
Writing the Story: 1
This is the lowest as this is always the easiest. The words come easily and I could just type it away. Since my format has changed, I focus on dialogues now instead of narration, which means the work has been cut down, as the only thing I'll worry about is how to place each dialogue to which panel/picture. Unfortunately, this means more work for posing 😔
Unfortunately I cannot share some drafts to you, as my old drafts has been deleted on my phone LMAO
Editing the Photos: 2
With my new style, there's new steps in editing now. Before, I tend to rely on my reshade when it comes to photos, but now, I sharpen them with the preset I made in gimp (with some presets for flashbacks). Not only that, I also now edit in the dialogues on-screen, since I stopped narrating it through paragraphs. It may be tedious but this is still easy for me because I'm done with all the stuff and I just have to edit them.
*second lenora pic uses the flashback filter
Styling the Sims: 3
This is my favorite part when writing characters! When I'm done looking for irl references for their features and likeness, I love scrolling through my CC and make them unique by styling them.
I have a restriction on some clothes and hairs: when it's used on active characters, I can't use it again, but if for example the character passes away (e.g. Old Age) and a generation had passed, the restrictions will be lifted.
Sometimes, before starting up the game, I make sure I've done some CC shopping already, especially when the character has specific dressing style (such as olden ages and stuff).
Posing the Sims: 4
I have a lot of poses, and it can be overwhelming to get through them and look for the right ones to fit the scene (thank god for TMEX's searchable pose player). This is its rank because this is what takes up most of my play time! You thought my 8 hours of game time was me dilly dallying? No, that's just me repositioning them for the 10th time 😔
Setting the Scene: 5
This is the HARDEST part for me because I would spend DAYS or even weeks setting up the scene, especially if the build is my own work! And if I'm building from scratch, I'd have to take days to finish it because it could get overwhelming (and boring), so sis this the most hardest and tedious part of my process.
When I'm lazy, I try to look from the gallery, like shell builds, and just do the interior (which cuts down half of the work). The only time I result to building to scratch is when I need something SPECIFIC, like the monastery (which I actually enjoyed doing).
Now that you know how lazy I could get...it's 🫵 your turn! Tagging: @sirianasims @marcishaun @living-undead @damseljamsel (but feel free to pass!) If you see this, consider yourself tagged as well if you want to do it!

OOOOH, Shannon my beloved!! You're really out here trying to break our brains with such difficult questions, aren't you? 🤣
Okay okay (takes deep breath and tries not to second guess the living hell out of myself)...
5. Writing the Story- For me everything stems from this point - the posing, scene setting, styling, editing - so it will always be the most important part of the process. It’s where ~the inspiration~ really happens, and without some sort of written starting point, I find myself rather adrift in the rest of the process. This is why I spend so much time in my writing/planning docs, making sure I have a cohesive vision/plan before jumping to the other stages.
4. Posing the Sims - I think especially as we have gotten into the ~emotional messiness~ of the story, this step has become increasingly important. I want to feel the writing come to life, and I really try and capture/impart that in the screenshots too. This means that seeing the most specific emotions or smallest of details has become so crucial, and so searching for that perfect pose to bring the written to life is really the next most important thing to me. Of course now that I'm making about 50% of my own poses, the time spent in doing so is rather substantial too 😅
3. Setting Up the Scene - I love a visual story running alongside the writing (both in the scene and the sims appearance). I think I only place this above styling because I'm more comfortable in build mode than I am in CAS. I spend alot of time cluttering sets and giving us little cues to things like the passage of time, character traits, or the overall mood in every little detail. Its something that I truly love doing and I will change things in the background for almost every scene (slowly replacing the green corn with dead stalks I'm looking at you).
2. Styling the Sims - This ties in with No. 3, except I feel like I don't focus on it quite as much as the set background. I do enjoy giving my sims a new outfit or hairstyle to show the progression of time or their character growing, and I love little scene details like shoes or gloves coming off, or when characters would have their hair unstyled, etc etc. I also love studying fashion magazines and reading articles, so I would include that here too (especially when it comes to CC hunting for pieces that can mimic historic dress). But even still, this step is often more just icing on top of the cake once it’s already baked.
1.Editing the Photos - What can I say, I'm not an editing girlie. About 90% of the time I let my reshade do all the work, and all I do in post is brighten up some of the photos (since I find Tumblr can make them quite dark). The other 10% consists of me maybe adding a sunlight filter or some dust, and very, very rarely if a scene calls for it (looking at you mega flashback) I will undertake more detailed editing. But let me tell yall, it is not my speed, and especially after such a heavily edited post, I shall keep this step aaaaaall the way at the bottom 🤣
Nobody tagged me or anything, but I saw it going around and wanted to play too. This will be more of a "through the years" retrospective than a one-to-one comparison.
This is my very first screenshot in FFXIV. It's dated 10/07/17. I'm sure most of you can recognize the scene. When I first created Aeluan, he was always meant as an RP character and based on a WoW paladin of mine that I almost never played because I planned to keep playing WoW and didn't want to translate over characters I played regularly. Originally, he was meant to have a bit of a "hick" accent to his Eorzean, but that didn't stick around. Neither did the blue dots on his forehead.
Ten days later, he got his first hair change.
On 11/12/17, I figured out how to Gpose. I really haven't gotten that much better.
Bonus: Aeluan with the earliest iteration of his little brother, Hinan. (2/5/18) Hinan belongs to @chocoblep.
A year and ten days after that first screenshot, he lost his forehead dots. Those have never come back.
On 7/3/20, I started playing with the precursor to Anamnesis. I haven't really gotten that much better with that either. (Bonus: my husband's character, Arli, in her signature orange. Arli belongs to @canalstreetbaker.)
By 4/4/21, I'd figured out GShade (which I no longer use - ReShade ftw) and mods. Aeluan had a stint where his scales were pure white.
One of my favorite shots of Aelu, dated 2/13/22. I might not be great with posing, but I do love me my ReShade filters.
By this point on 4/27/22, he'd settled into a fairly consistent canon look. His lore had settled down a lot too, as I finally understood much of the game's story and where Raen fit in it. (Not great, at least, until Radz.)
Here he is vanilla vs. mods right before Dawntrail. The big tail was one of the first mods I threw on him and it's been there ever since. I always feel strange when he's vanilla with his bitty (and still biggest the game allows) tail.
And here's my most recent screenshot of Aeluan, dated 12/17/24. The piercing eyes never changed and neither did the skin tone, but the rest of him took some refining before I found precisely the look I wanted with him. I'm pretty satisfied where he is now. RP-wise, he's gone all sorts of places I never imagined, but he's always been my Lawful Good paladin - even if he fights with a two-hander like a dark knight.
I hope somebody, somewhere, got a little kick out of this retrospective. Have a great holiday and a happy New Year!
I try to avoid death in my games when it comes to my favourite Sims.
2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match?
At the moment it’s more maxis match, mostly with clay hair but for my Sim Hendrik I also like to use Alpha hairs sometimes.
3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight?
Never. I let them do what ever they want.
4. Do you use move objects?
In my test hood all the time when it comes to picture taking, but in normal gameplay I don’t use it that often.
5. Favorite mod?
Can’t say, I have way to many which I always need in my game.
6. First expansion/game/stuff pack you got?
It’s always with Pets, no matter which Sims part it is. ^^ I need pets in my games. :)
7. Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing?
I don’t know what it means or why it’s important. o.O
8. Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made?
Julia Zimmermann. :)
9. Have you made a simself?
Yes. Mary-Jean Baker was my first self-Sim, the newest version was Avalonia.
10. What sim traits do you give yourself?
Lazy, cat lover (is there a trait for shy introvert?)
11. Which is your favorite EA hair color?
The red looks nice.
12. Favorite EA hair?
I will steal this one from Esotheria: hairshortcombed . ^^ It’s always the only one that I never have a default for in my game.
13. Favorite life stage?
Adults, sometimes teens (depends on the Sim).
14. Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay?
I’m bad at building worlds or houses- I’m mostly in for gameplay or CC testing in my test hood.
15. Are you a CC creator?
I wouldn’t call myself a creator. o.O I sometimes upload stuff I made, but not on a regular basis.
16. Do you have any simblr friends/a sim squad?
I made some friends on here and I hope they are not angry about me when I don’t reply messages that often. :(
17. What’s your favorite game? (1, 2, 3, or 4)
My first love was TS1 and now it’s TS2. The other two are only fun for me since I recreated Hendrik.
18. Do you have any sims merch?
No.
19. Do you have a YouTube for sims?
No.
20. How has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing?
I guess this picture answer it very well. The one in black is how my original Hendrik Hupfner looked like, that’s how my game 10 years ago looked like, with glittery skin, more realistic hair and eyes. The other version of Hendrik is how he mostly looks like in my TS2-game, more maxis match skin and eyes, tattoo boxes (who ever invented them, they are the reason why Hendrik finally can look like he always should: with lots of tattoos. ^^)
21. What’s your Origin ID?
I have one but I gave it to only one person on here, I have nothing to offer over there.
22. Who’s your favorite CC creator?
There are so many wonderful people that make great CC that I love in my game. To name everyone would take years!
23. How long have you had a simblr?
My first post was in April 2016 so I guess that was the start.
24. How do you edit your pictures?
I sometimes use Reshade (different sets) but never for CC previews! Next to that I only crop my pictures, that’s all.
25. What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next?
Not planing to get anything for any Sims soon.
25. What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far?
All EPs with Pets (all four games). ^^
I often tag people who never reply so I’m not tagging someone. If you like to do it feel free to jump in. :)
