I just discovered author @annefrasier and read the first book in her Jude Fontaine series, THE BODY READER. Jude Fontaine is a Minneapolis homicide detective who has been held captive for 3 years and assumed dead. When she escapes, she is not the same woman she used to be. The old her feels dead and she’s not sure if there’s any hope for who she is now. She finds she can read people’s expressions and body language thanks to having had to read that of her captor. When she returns to homicide with a new partner, people doubt her abilities and her sanity. When Jude thinks the case they’re working on might be linked to old missing girl cold cases, no one believes her. Is she stable? Is she on to something? Can she keep going? Jude is a strong, complex character as is her partner, Uriah Ashby, who has his own demons to battle. This book was suspenseful and i had trouble putting it down. Now I need to read the whole series and probably, the other series by this author.
