it takes place in Italy (with flashbacks taking place in Budapest) and is all about the aesthetic ™
it has an overwhelming sense of nostalgia and a strong desire for the idyllic past
a very intense fixation on death & philosophizing about the ancient Greek/Roman idea of it
not so thinly veiled homoeroticism
searching for one’s path in life & ones personality
