Hello, fandomites.

So, I learned about the allegations regarding AvidMc and Marma1ade. I’m disgusted, I feel betrayed, and most of all I feel awful for the creators who have had to interact with two toxic and manipulative individuals.

First and foremost, we need to acknowledge the victims, and give them space to tell their stories if they so choose. I will be waiting at least a month before I post anything regarding Avid and Marm’s characters again, or longer if that is needed.

After that, I’ve chosen to still post headcanons, fanart, and maybe even write fanfiction about their characters, as I believe in separating art from the artist in most cases. I believe it’s possible. However, I do not support either content creator. I will not be watching any of their videos, and have already unfollowed and unsubscribed from them.

One important aspect of interacting with one another as we go forward is respecting each others choice to seperate art from artist, or move away from the work entirely. As long as you do not support these creators directly, liking their characters is not indicative of your or someone else’s moral standing. I would like for us to respect each decisions, and to not spread hate if we disagree. Also, if someone expresses support for one of these creators, i think we should gently inform them in case they are new and unaware of the recent allegations. Not everyone is at the right place at the right time to find these things out. We have built a wonderful community, and i think many of us would hate for it to be ripped apart by interpersonal discourse.

All of my posts from now on regarding either creator’s characters will include the tag “Anti Avid” or “Anti Marm”. Unless I forget because it’s a new habit and I’m a fairly forgetful individual sometimes.

To everyone who has been hurt by Avid and Marmalade, my heart goes out to you.

To the victims, I’m sorry about what you have had to go through. We’re here to listen if you wish to talk.

And to my fellow community members, we’re in this together. They made the content, but we made the community. And they can never take that away from us.

Just as an fyi for those looking to avoid his content, Avid is trying to rebrand and is changing the names of his socials.

I was listening to Musithical and when the queue ended it started playing a song I knew was Avid’s (his voice is pretty distinct) and when I went to play something else I noticed instead of AvidMC, it said the artist was “The Great Divide” but based off the song in his profile, it was definitely Avid.

I also saw a post about him doing something similar with his yt.

Disclaimer: I didn't watch Avid except for his first vampire's episode, other than that I was pretty indifferent about him.

However, with that being said, I did have an opinion about his vampire's character.

Some may have picked up on it in my As The Moon is Red fic, if not here it is, but I SO wanted Avid to be the villain in Vampires.

And I mean that I wanted him to turn into the villian, not be a villian from the get-go.

I wanted his paranoia to consume him. Making him practically go mad. Declaring himself leader of the town, running 'tests' to see if someone was a vampire, exiling anyone who didn't comply, making plans to invade the castle, and just being so controlling and demanding that both townsfolk and vampires would want him gone. (again character Avid) Then the townsfolk and vampires pulling an' ol' enemy of my enemy is my friend thing.

I wanted the breaking point for one or both groups to be him killing Drift because he believed she'd been turned when she hadn't been. And then have him trying to go on a murderous rampage to destroy everyone else.

I wanted him to be the villain.

I just didn't know why.

But other than that, I didn't engage with the talk of the harassment tweets, and now that this has all come out I just gotta say. . . Dang.

To be honest, I've been there with a creator that I had liked. So, I know it sucks hearing that they're not a good person. It sucks a lot.

But absolutely go and show support to the SBK crew, the artists and other victims who have had to go through this. My heart goes out to them and all of the former Avid fans. Much love Darlings.

Do I watch him? No, but my friend did and has told me all about the situation when she heard about it. I am invested

So… I still adore Vampires SMP, but I can’t even look at Avid right now. He was my absolute favorite character. I was planning to cosplay him at an upcoming event, I drew him multiple times, I made entire AUs playing with the character, and a friend of mine was planning to make me a v!Avid bracelet. This character has eaten my brain since October of last year. I gushed over him, I wept over him, I put him in the torture nexus. But it feels like he’s been poisoned by AvidMC’s actions. I normally separate art from artist. But it’s difficult right now. Because I read his dialogue in fanfiction, and I hear his voice in my head. And I feel disgust pervading my joy. Maybe it will clear up after a few months. But I don’t want to reject my favorite fandom while I grieve. And I’m not letting AvidMC ruin the efforts and passions of multiple talented people, and I’m not letting him kill my joy.

As such, I’ve decided to try and reclaim the story I love through an Avid Replacement OC. I’ve essentially stripped V!Avid for parts, and combined them with various other handcrafted pieces to create a little Frankenstein’s OC creature. It’s a little something to bring me joy, and I’m really excited to show you.

I’m hoping to someday write or draw out the full story, but for now I just wanna play with my new 2D doll. I would absolutely love to receive asks in my inbox regarding the new OC. If I get enough asks, I might make a side blog for her. But I don’t want to go to all the effort of her inbox is going to be empty.

Side note that asks can help me develop the character, as you guys might bring up stuff that I didn’t think of. Thank you so much.

Here’s some cliff notes because this post is already kinda long and my brain is running on pure determination rn:

- she’s Elle’s best friend since childhood

- the two are monster hunters. Willow has always been intrigued by them, but was further incentivized to research them after a certain…. Incident. Elle is also curious, and determined to subdue (or even kill) monsters in the hopes that nobody else has to live through the hell she experienced. Or what Willow endured… they were only kids, too…..

- Elle is alive, folks! Hopefully. Willow isn’t really sure. The pair have been taking on monster capturing/hunting gigs (bounty hunter style) for a while. Elle went out for a gig and hasn’t come back. Law enforcement is giving less than a fuck about it, so Willow has decided to take matters into her own hands. She was looking for a town to find an inn where she could crash. Her wish came true, but at a price.

- their talents within monster hunting and research are alchemy and long range weaponry. Elle is much better at hand to hand combat. But Willow? They’re a good sniper.

- random fun fact: they’re farsighted. They don’t need their glasses for average day to day life, but given the reading and writing that comes with noting monster related stuff, she wears them a lot. She actually had a chain for them, but it broke and she hasn’t gotten around to fixing it.

Her pronouns are she/they, and sometimes he but rarely. She lives more on the neutral or fem side of the gender spectrum, but every so often she’ll lean masculine. Her gender is a goddamn mess.

Some of you may notice I took down one of my animatics.

After learning more about what AvidMc has done, I’m appalled, furious, and disgusted. I can no longer listen to his music. Just hearing his voice fills me with distain.

I really wanted to separate art from artist. But this has infected the characters I adore. It’s going to be a very long time before I can look at v!Avid and Sirenvid. If I ever can again.

I still love these characters. But I have to put them away for a while. Hopefully they can see the light of day again. But I make no promises. To myself or to you.

But this won’t be the last you see of Vsmp on this blog. Or Bannerfall. Or flight.

Continuing my previous post

100 Days in a Minecraft nightmare

- couldn’t get a grasp on his character

- felt nothing for them emotionally

- who the hell looks at a demon tome and starts making deals with demons? Even the folks in evil dead weren’t that dumb! And at least evil dead was a satire of horror movie tropes at the time (and theater tropes in the musical adaptation)

Vampires:

- I got hooked cuz I thought I was getting infection body horror. Something like when Zero was turning into a vampire in Vampire Knight. I… I didn’t get that.

- if you weren’t part of the discord that you got no explaination as to what actually infected him.

- the corruption arc was rushed.

The Flight:

- honestly had me at the whole “kills rich people because they are harming the lower class.” And the idea that he used to be the very thing he swore to destroy? Mmmmm. But like… the character felt inconsistent. You’re telling me that someone who wants to aid the weak by killing the overpowered would scream “BURN THE CHILDREN!” At the top of their lungs? That never sat right!

And they can’t do enemies to lovers if they had a stake to their heart. They can’t get the timing right! Enemies to lovers is best brewed as a slow burn! But slow burn ain’t their strong suit. It’s all about the timing. The gradual shift. It’s hard for me to write that stuff, hence why I avoid it.

But perhaps an enemies to lovers reader can offer its input. Because I don’t ask Gemini, I ask a human professional.
