Which makes me wonder, how can Harry ever be like Bella when she has no personality to replicate? Literally everyone portrays her differently in every fic because there’s no real personality to go from. She's like the perfect placeholder for whatever projections people force on her, as she serves as the powerful evil woman trope of the series, lol.
So no, Tomarry fics never make Harry into "Bella," as she isn’t a solid character. If Harry seems bloodthirsty or sadistic, then that's just him being out of character or acting based on AU circumstances, and sadism isn’t a trait unique to Bellatrix, btw. Simple. And if the writer makes him out of character, that’s just something most fanfic does. Tomarry shippers really don’t care to write Harry with that borderline oc in mind, trust me.

People dislike Bellatrix because she is literally unlikeable. She's a villan that you can't even sympathize with because she has no canon sob story. She is a wealthy, attractive, powerful pureblood who we never see struggle in the past. Even tho I do not like Voldemort too he is atleast interesting to read about because he has many layers under him and you can speculate about his motives based on his past. We don't really get that from Bellatrix. She's just there to be a plot device and get shit moving (Sirius's death or Hermione's torture). Of course you can speculate about her but that would be your imagination nothing that comes from the original books. Her obsession with Voldemort, the way she enjoys torturing people, the way she speaks about others is just gross to me, because we don't know anything about her actual motives or personality and these traits alone are just disgusting. Her fans are also annoying because they think Bellatrix is this complex, deep (or even worse: feminist) character when in reality it is their imagination that made her that way.

Listen, I love villains. Villains are amazing.
They are awesome. 9/10 times they are more interesting than the "good" Characters.

You want to see a villain getting a good redemption arc ? Yeah totally get that feeling
But it does get complicated for me when you invent a hundret head canons for that Character to point them in a better light and ignore the terrible Things they did.
(Headcanons are totally fine but if your headcanon is: "Their Dad used to b*at them every day and they were basically a S*x Sl*ve their whole life and thats why they k*lled all these people then....nah)
And it gets especially fucked up for me when you point fingers at their victims and somehow make them the bad guy or get mad at them for not forgiving them right away or not at all.
