ANTI SMOKING CAMPAIGN. PLEASE SPREAD. :-) #thesmokersbody #antismokingcampaign #healthychoices
Recent research into smoking
Smoking affects IQ
Its official smoking makes you stupid. Smoking is directly correlated with a lower IQ, according to a study conducted by researchers from Tel Aviv University in Israel and published in the journal Addiction.
Researchers tested the IQs of more than 20,000 healthy men between the ages of 18 and 21 who were either serving in the Israeli military or who had recently completed their service. Twenty-eight percent of the men in the sample smoked, while 3 percent were former smokers and 68 percent had never smoked.
The average IQ of the smokers was 94, compared with 101 among the non-smokers. Men who smoked more than a pack of cigarettes a day had an average IQ of 90. Although a normal IQ falls between 84 and 116, the difference observed in the study is still considered significant.
Research question
A Discussion around visual athestics and their effectiveness in advertising campaigns
I had a meeting with my mentor today which lead me to explain my Idea and the basis of my question and received positive feedback. The route I am considering going down is how to keep a viewer/audience engagaed in my campaign. There are many techniques out their like persuasion and hidden messages which have frequently been successful in the past. They use many propaganda approaches, which I will be researching into.
My next step is to explore techniques used in the past (history lesson) this will help me find out how it all started and which was the most successful.
Experimentation in creative class
I found this advert very inspiring. Through most of the advertisement you don't actually realise what the children are talking about. This advert relates to what route I am looking to going down. In this advert the audience would sense a feeling of happiness from the children because it sounds like the are discussing something fun, but when you notice its cigarette packets its a bit of a shock. I would like to design a campaign which could go in this direction.
