Vincent Loques, 45, a father-of-two an sacristan of the Notre Dame basilica in Nice, was killed in a terror attack on Thursday morning that saw another woman beheaded and a third fatally stabbed.
Yet more anti-France hatred claims the lives of innocent citizens. The hatred of Islamist fanaticism, and the Muslims who tacitly (and explicitly) endorse these murderous rampages under the pretext of religious offence, should be confronted and defeated.
This habit of hatred towards the West and Western culture kills. Every French citizen has the right to live, worship, and express themselves in peace-- yet it is clear that these murderers do not wish for this to be the case. They have poisoned France from within, exploiting Western freedoms to demand that their intolerance be given preference over the national culture and laws.
Macron says the right things, but I hope he will back this with meaningful action-- and I do not mean government intrusion into private belief. His defence of the right to publish cartoons was necessary, because regardless of whether you read those cartoons or not, murder is unacceptable.
Meaningful action means reviving of national solidarity, defence of the national culture and laws, and no tolerance for separate sub-cultures that threaten the lives of innocent citizens.
