Personal vent here. Ya know. I would never replace my friends. I love them dearly.
But sometimes I really wish they just. Didn't smoke. Like, maybe it's my own personal stuff with it (surely some of it is) but just. I'm not the kind who drinks or smokes anything. But sometimes I just get really tired about hearing about it. Cuz all my friends pretty much smoke. Whichever ones didn't, began smoking.
Like, I feel like it's weird to find someone in their 20s who doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, and isn't a religious nut (as they may not do the two only cause said religion).
And I'm not going to tell them to not talk about it. Because at the end of the day, it's my personal thing. Like they certainly try to make me comfortable. Turn on a fan to air out the room, hold off smoking till I leave, etc. But their efforts only work so well. Weed is strong. There's not much of anything you can do to get that smell of you, it's smoke.
And I'm certainly not going to go to their homes and tell them to just straight up nuke their place of the scent. That's pretty unreasonable. But it's like one of those things that because they do it, I can't even really bring my husband with me to hang outs. He is sensitive to the smell and he's also extremely worried about secondhand smoke because of his jobs random drug test. Rightly so. And listen. I'm not going to argue about how strong second hand smoke for weed is. He gets headaches from the scent, and I'm not risking half of our income on the off chance it doesn't or does show up.
But the thing about that is sometimes I feel like a burden. Because they'll talk about "oh how we're going to smoke" or get together JUST to do that. Like whether I like it or not, smoking or those sort of vices are social. More often than not. Like I could still technically go over and hang out. That's not an issue, but it feels like I'm sort of barred from it at the same time.
Cuz they're aware that I'm not into it and I'm aware that they want to be able to fully smoke as they want. But hearing them rave about it makes me feel left out, cause I know I can't go. They want to smoke and me being there stops them from that. I love them for it, but I wish this just wasn't a thing in the first place.
It's tiring. Like both me and husband struggle to find any people our age who just don't do that. I'm certainly not getting rid of my friends, but my circle is small.
At the end of the day, we're all adults and will do whatever we want. I think I'm just tired of how huge weed is that it's almost assumed you smoke it and to find someone who doesn't is odd.
I suppose I should be thankful they're not like huge stoners. I'll see posts like 'man, what do nonsmokers even do to get through life??' um. Literally anything?
I think my main thing is I feel alone in my own circle sometimes cause of one stupid thing but that's simply how it is. Just needed to vent a bit

D.A.R.E. Ends Anti-Weed Campaign, Quietly Removes Pot from Gateway Drug List submitted by /u/ShatterMcNasty /r/trees - home of the ents
As a former anti-weed turned stoner. Legal weed blows my mind.
For years I was part of the general public view of " all stoners are wasters and all drugs are bad" … Tried it and it changed my life. Still illegal where I am. It blows my mind how there is weed being endorsed by government and healthcare experts. My pre stoner mind is still like "nah this can't be right" God bless weed and God bless those who legalized it. submitted by /u/paranoiduser100…

Cannabis Kills
Last week my friend convinced me to try weed. He said it was cool, cannabis isn't dangerous, so I bought some from him. When he left, even though I knew I shouldn't, but curiosity won over my intellect and I filled the syringe and pushed the piston down. For a few seconds it felt great, but then I knew something went wrong. My heart started beating fast and so hard I could feel it in my head, then I started losing feeling in the arm I injected in and then I started feeling like I'd suffocate. I scrambled downstairs and told my mom to call an ambulance, just some seconds before I collapsed and lost consciousness. I was taken to a hospital and I was diagnosed with a heart attack. My mom was crying and saying why I did something like that, what did she do wrong. I told her how stupid and horrible I felt, I just got curious. I told her about my friend and she sued him, I think she's going with attempted manslaughter. I don't care, he's not my friend anymore. Don't let anyone tell you cannabis is safe to use, I'm writing this from a hospital. The paramedics said that I could have had brain damage or even died if I didn't tell my mom to call them before I collapsed. I'm still left with arrhythmia that will shorten my lifespan. Cannabis kills.
