For Antoni please!
Antoni cooks soup when unsettled or nervous. The heat of the bubbling liquid, the humidity of its steam, savory scents and flavors. These are all deeply comforting. He cooks Russian soups he cannot remember his own mother having made for him, once. But the sense of it is still there. He knows these soups fix broken hearts. He just can't remember why.

TINY TYOMA
Have you ever seen The Defeated with Logan Marshall-Green and Taylor Kitsch? I'm not finished with it yet but there's definitely some Artyom and Misha vibes between the two of them in that show!
I haven't! Oooooh I should look that up. Tyoma and Misha had some fucked up codependence happening and it was even more fucked up from Misha's POV than Tyoma's...
And also Antoni continues the sense of a codependent loyalty with Chris, Jake, and Kauri. One thing I wanted very much set into the story is that Antoni isn't Tyoma but he has the same tendency to single-mindedly value loyalty over his own self identity.
Kauri actually helps with that, because Kauri is so deeply Himself no matter the risks and it helps Antoni take risks, too.
Antoni- what's the best part of your days lately? what's the worst?
"The best... I am loved. I have my family." Antoni smiles, fiddling with the ring he wears on his left hand, turning it this way and that. Watching it catch the light. "I have my Jasha, and my Kasha, and Chrishka my brother. This is the best. To see them. The worst..." He exhales. "The worst is to know that the only thing that keeps me from holding them is the ruin Mr. Davies made of me."

Hm... From Antoni's perspective, I think probably in this piece here, where Antoni and Jake talk openly and honestly about how Kauri's internalized trauma means that Antoni's, which is often less openly expressed, was overlooked. And Antoni really is very vulnerable here, in a way he usually isn't.
Then in this piece more for Jake, where he and Antoni first broach the topic of being partners with and alongside Kauri, when Jake is recovering from being nearly killed by Jameson. Those are definitely the two I would pick.
wait so the only reason antoni is touch-averse is because of davies?
He was never a touchy-feely person. He was never one to hug without being coaxed. But the repulsion and disgust at touch, the crawling sensation that makes it so even forcing himself to be affectionate feels physically repellent... Mr. Davies is the root of that.
Antoni is very aware that it would be easier to hug Kauri when he is crying or rub Chris's back... If it weren't for Oscar Davies.
Curious question: will Antoni and Jameson ever make the connection of what happened to Hank? I love knowing as a reader and this big secret the characters don’t know and may never be able to make the link, your characters are so fun to just watch you play with lol
I actually don't know that they'll ever make the connection. For one thing, Jameson essentially avoids Jake's entire house after the stabbing incident. So he and Antoni don't really communicate. As well as Antoni doesn't discuss his brother with anyone but Chris, Jake, and Kauri really.
If they did, I think it would be a huge internal and external conflict for both of them. A lot of anger on Jameson's part when realizing that Antoni - or Artyom - could have stopped it and was instead enabling this absolute atrocity to go on for years, a ton of guilt on Antoni's because he knows that his insistence on the importance of family above everything else comes from a place of a past deep unhealthy toxic codependence on his brother.
idk if this has been done before, but I would love to hear your two cents on Ant if he were in Chris's place?
Ant would either crack into an emptier shell than he already was under Oscar Davies, or he would have snapped and slaughtered Oliver Branch in a really, really awful way.
