telling people with social anxiety that they're bad people for having social anxiety actually makes the anxiety worse btw
' thinking that if you do xyz your friend will dislike you is actually kinda evil to do because you're assuming things about them :/ ' do think you're helping with the social anxiety??? you just made it ten times worse
we still think they'll hate us for xyz but now we're to scared to tell them that because we think they'll hate us for thinking that
it just makes us bottle up our feelings and refuse to open up about our anxiety
the best way to learn how to deal with anxiety is to open up and talk about your worries so you can get some reassurance and feel better if you're demonizing opening up and talking about your anxiety you are actively harming people
the only way i learned to be less anxious was other people consistently being patient and reassuring me about my worries but now im anxious again and im too scared to try to get patience or reassurance because im to scared that they'll think im a bad person for having anxiety
you're not helping you're just making it worse.
art :3
- The Three Special Species - Once upon a forest, on a dewy April day, two unique creatures met in the woods, to frolic and play. The species noticed a face peaking out from a tree, it was a spindly little thing, shaking with anxiety! It was calmed down by the creatures, and said “Hello..”, “Can you help me find where the goblins will go?” “Goblins?” The pointy-eared one responded, “Yes, Goblins!” Said the round-eared one, “They’ve made a bazaar, where artists are wanted!” So the trio of beings began a trek to the bazaar, on trails and grasses, a distance very far! They then had some breaks, in shops and bright arcade locales, sharing yummy hot pizza, becoming best pals!
Where will they be on the end of their journey? Why, the Goblin Guild Bazaar, with art vendors aplenty!!
Come join the fun, Saturday April 11th, 12-5pm, in Edmonds Washington, where we’ll carpe diem!
ADHD (cat), Autism (dog?), Depression (smol), Anxiety (giraffe) creatures
As much as I like those little mental handicap creatures I feel some of them are lacking. For example as someone with both types of anxiety they are definitely separate entities that feed off one another. Depression is also much more malicious: so here my an actual real life art student’s interpretation of the creatures that live im my head.
The changes I made:
The ADHD creature has blue eyes to represent pure energy.
The anxiety creatures are more giraffe-like and their antennae are shaking to represent anxiety. Their eyes are filled with fear and in their fear they bite one each others tails, forcing them to stand up on two legs, increasing their stress.
Notably everytime ADHD runs past anxiety creatures they spook them intensifying the shaking.
Depression creature now has a large mouth that wails lies and hatred. It should be disregarded. My depression creature is lumpy as ADHD creature has no sense of space and steps on it occasionally.
Autism and ADHD creature are a matched set and MUST NOT be seperated under any circumstances.
