So @the-mad-bird-diaries found a cool dinner challenge, and imma do it. You picks character's you would like to have dinner with and create a guest list. (There are spoilers in this, kind of. Be warned.) And passing on the message, anyone who's interested can consider themselves tagged. <3
This is my list:
-Ella from Ella Enchanted. Because my taste in literature skidded to a halt in fourth grade when I discovered fantasy books and I refused to be ashamed of that.
-Sherlock Holmes, from the books. I feel like he wouldn't care that I'm basically mute, and I'd like to see the deductions he'd make about me. Actually, maybe I wouldn't... oh and it'd be great to introduce him to ARGs. (And maybe therapy. That can probably apply to most of the people on this list, tbh.)
-Gwen from BBC's Merlin. She's so sweet and deserved more screen time, 100%. And I'm bad at social interaction and she is too, and she's nice about it, so 10/10 definitely coming to dinner.
-Not sure if movie characters count, but Guy from Free Guy. And Emmett from The Lego movie. Well meaning himbos are always welcome. Even if they're legos.
-Sara Crew from A Little Princess. She just seems like a great person and I would be love to be the person to introduce her to Aurora's music and also tumblr. She'd excel here.
-Melody from Out Of My Mind. We could talk about being disabled in a non-disabled world, and also about how frustrating it can be when you can't say what you want to say. And by that I mean she'll talk about it, and I'll agree very strongly in a completely silent way.
-Kara Wood from One White Dolphin because that book shaped my childhood and probably turned me into a vegan. I mean, you can't finish cheering for the wellbeing of a dolphin and then turn to a tuna fish sandwich. It's just not right.
-Sam Gribley from My Side of the Mountain because I want to flee and live in the woods and I want him to know he's responsible.
-Anyone written by E.D Baker, please and thank you.
-Theodore Guzman from Antonio S and the Mystery of Theodore Guzman by Odo Hirsch. He just seems like he's got it all figured out and I need that energy in my life.
-The Doctor from Doctor Who. Probably the 11th one, because for once I won't be the weirdest person in the room. respect. And Jammie Dodgers are vegan, so we're all set for dinner.
He was my echo. Everything I do is quieter now

We're all trying to be grown-up and love each other and understand how the hell you're supposed to insert USB leads. We're looking for something to cling on to, something to fight for, something to look forward to. We're doing all we can to teach our children how to swim. We have all of this in common, yet most of us remain strangers, we never know what we do to each other, how your life is affected by mine. Perhaps we hurried past each other in a crowd today, and neither of us noticed, and the fibers of your coat brushed against mine for a single moment and then we're gone. I don't know who you are. But when you get home this evening, when this day is over and the night takes us, allow yourself a deep breath. Because we made it through this day as well. There'll be another one along tomorrow.

If you can do something for someone in such a way that they think they managed to it all on their won, then you've done a good job
Fredrik Backman, Anxious People
They say that a person's personality is the sum of their experiences. But that isn't true, at least not entirely, because if our past was all that defined us, we'd never be able to put up with ourselves. We need to convince ourselves that we're more than the mistakes we made yesterday. That we are all of our next choices, too, all of our tomorrows.
Fredrik Backman, Anxious People
One of the most human things about anxiety is that we try to cure chaos with chaos. Someone who has got themselves in a catastrophic situation rarely retreats from it, we're far more inclined to carry on even faster. We've created lives where we can watch other people crash into the wall but still hope that somehow we're going to pass straight through it. The closer we get, the more confidently we believe that some unlikely solution is going to miraculously save us, while everyone watching us is just waiting for us to crash.

Unfortunately I think most people would still get more sympathy from their colleagues and bosses at work if they show up looking rough one morning and say 'I'm hungover' then if they say 'I'm suffering from anxiety'.
