Oooh I am having petty thoughts for everyone who tut-tutted me in early Arcane months for calling Silco's tattooed henchman Mek in my fics. I was told there was a fan event organised in one city of the US around launch time and a single insta post named the character as Lock.
It's canon, I was told! I said no thank you he's not named in the show and not named in credits and your insta post isn't canon.
I laughed the pettiest bitch ass laugh when this came on screen lmao
I'm still not calling him Gustove in any of my ongoing fics or AUs though I'm not crazy and I'm not editing longfics for this shit lol

Arcane background characters Zaun part 2.
Alright! It’s time to talk about this guy: the burly henchman
So recently I was doing some digging to see if I could find any new content of this man, because I love him and I was desperate, but I ended finding not new, but old images and lore that I want to bring into the light and talk about. For starters here is what I found on insta:
This right here is @/nickiemorg on insta, and he played the burly henchmen in: Arcane-Enter the Undercity. (I won’t go into details about the even because this post will be longer with it, but basically you could enter an built undercity and interact with actual characters from Arcane and complete little missions)
Now first things first, I believe we can call Arcane: Enter the Undercity semi-cannon… so this means his cannon name would be Lock!
Now I know that a lot of people here on tumblr have called him Mek, thanks to the wonderful @bluedaddysgirl giving him that name, and honestly! I think it’s fine if you still call him Mek! I’m not gonna gatekeep his name, (also plenty of people still call Thieram- Chuck, so call him whatever you want!) I will be calling him Lock from now on just because my poor little brain needs to latch onto a name for him and for some reason a cannon name is easier for me, and for another reason I’ll get into later
Now let’s get into lore!
Before these insta pics and captions, we kinda had no idea what Lock did, like we knew he was a goon but we didn’t know if he had a specific job like Sevika had.
Now if you look at the first insta pic, in the caption it says:
“Lock. Silco’s second lieutenant, a guardian of the undercity, and the gatekeeper to Zaun.”
OK OK OK!! This is cool! He is considered a second lieutenant! Does this mean he would report straight to Sevika like everyone else or was he on par with Sevika? ALSO ALSO! FOOD FOR THOUGHT! When Silco says, “Sevika will clean up todays mess” in episode four, could Lock potentially be someone who Silco would trust to take care of a mess? If Lock wasn’t left bleeding out on the ship would he be taking care of the mess? ANOTHER THOUGHT?? Caitlyn could possibly gotten some serious dirt out of Lock if she could have interviewed him properly, but would he betray Silco? Personally I don’t think so, since he has been with Silco for a long time.
Next thing! “Gatekeeper to Zaun, Guardian of the undercity” WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? Honestly I am kinda clueless as to what this could mean. I don’t think it means he could be like one of those guards at the Last Drop, it seems like he got these titles for doing something more important???
Perhaps he keeps track on who is entering Zaun and making sure no outsiders get into the city perhaps? I’m not sure
Back to his name real quick! The other reason I like the name Lock now is that it fits with his status, “the gatekeeper to zaun” how does one protect their gates so no randos can get past? Easy! A Lock!
Anyway this is all I got! I know it’s honestly not a lot, but considering we had NOTHING for his character, I’m just ecstatic we have something, PLUS!! The cannon cosplay we got is just SOOOOOO GOOD!

You don't know for sure how it started.
You worked under Silco and Vander throughout the creation of the Lanes, and back then you were known for your skill with blades. The lethal kind. People gave you and your daggers and throwing knives a wide berth.
Yet somewhere along the way, you also became known for your skill with scissors and clippers. You suspect Dustin in the architect behind this reputation. You did his hair and Ran's for a while, and suddenly it was a whole thing.
You were put off originally, but nowadays you don't mind. The Lanes are established, and your daggers rarely needed. You might as well make some money out of this craft people seem to respect. There's something enjoyable to it too, much like stabbing idiots in the ass. The way people beam when you're done with them, and the sensation of teasing out a shape with the snip of your scissors, like a sculptor freeing a statue from a block of stone... It gives you a kick.
You're a little confused then, when Mek, of all people, squeezes his hulking frame through the small door of the hole-in-the-wall you've turned into a shop of sorts. You haven't seen him in a while, you're not exactly friends, and the man is the smoothest creature you've ever beheld. He doesn't even have eyebrows for you to trim.
'Do you have an appointment?' you ask with a laugh.
Mek huffs and shakes his bald head. 'You busy?' he asks.
You open your arms to encompass the tiny, empty room around you. 'Not right now.'
Mek nods, satisfied. 'Got a job for you,' he says. 'Not here though.'
