This is an introduction for Chapter 12 of ‘Green Eyes’ (the KHR gen fic i updated last 2021 (yes its 2023 now im not sorry dhdjfkd lmao)) and its a flashback on Byakuran’s pov during his first meeting with Lambo!Tsuna. Yes I basically expanded their first meeting so I can get a good read on his characterization in this fic. And this is definitely a spoiler BUT HERE ONWARDS I WILL BE SWITCHING AND FOCUSING ON THE OTHER CHARACTER'S POV (this world Tsunayoshi, Reborn, Byakuran, heck maybe even Fuuta) except Lambo!Tsuna cus he is mourning and he isnt all there right now. Just existing and breathing. (Coughs: unhealthy grief and revelation coping mechanism) ((another cough: and making Byakuran feel shit bcs Lambo!Tsuna’s kindness definitely runs out after that stunt Byakuran and Yuni pulled)
As usual KHR logic makes me question how old Yuni was in that future that could have been and how old she is in the manga last arc BCS THEY LOOK THE SAME?!!? HELP and dont even get me started with that Cervello Organization crap! Oh god 😵😤
Anyways, onward to this interlude and i hope you enjoy this preview uwu ❤️🤞
The crowd was noisy, it was annoying and grating to his ears. Yet Byakuran walked with a bounce on his feet, ignoring the mindless drone as he walked on the busy street towards his destination. People passed by and Byakuran couldn’t care about them. Couldn’t even feel envious over families that walked to and fro. Couldn’t feel the irritation of the people doing their mundane life. People’s laughter entered his ears and left on the other and he didn’t mind he was alone.
Byakuran was on his way to another lecture about engineering and robotics and honestly; studying a machine and building his own was fun. It wasn’t boring like his other subjects. Hell, it was even better than all the mindless drones he was learning at school. It was ever-revolving. It made him feel giddy, accomplished, when he learned something new. It made him happy and content. That kind of content after eating his favorite food. When he was full and sated and he was catnapping under the shade of the tree, the afternoon breeze would caress his skin, and the sun would occasionally peek over the leaves and the beautiful sky would shine down on him. That kind of feeling.
It was awesome.
It made the emptiness and the growing rage in his heart disappear. It made him feel alive, living. It was wonderful. Or maybe it was the adrenaline talking. Byakuran chuckled to himself, ignoring the weirded out look thrown by the bystanders who heard and passed him by. Honestly, today was a good day. Byakuran had something to look forward to and he mindlessly swept his gaze around him, uncaring and–
On the other side of the road, he caught green eyes belonging to a child with curled hair wearing a white and black patterned overall and Byakuran’s world was in a standhill; enraptured by the small visage. The world itself paused akin to a game, the color turning into black and white monochrome and before he knew it he was wading through the citizen, shoulder-checking anyone who didn’t make way for him.
Byakuran was near and the boy was in view that he could hear him now. Boisterous laughter reached his ears, child-like, loud and annoying. Yet, and yet there was something–
“Hey! You! Hey–” The child turned to him, his bright eyes looked up at him and it was wide, so wide that Byakuran was instantly pulled by that gaze. Byakuran’s ears were filled with static, and his paused world stuttered and glitched and colors rushed in. There was something on those eyes, something, something on his eyes, his eyes-so green-so vibrant-and–
Orange hue on green eyes, so strange, so contrasting. Two different shades that shouldn’t be mixed together yet simultaneously existed on those vibrant and glowing green eyes he was locked into.
A warm feeling settled on Byakuran’s heart, deep on his core, a stirring of something, of familiarization. A string of Hello! Where have you been? I’ve been looking for you and I’ve missed you so terribly and that in itself was strange.
The way he thought in the presence of this child was different, like this boy brought forth emotions and feelings he didn’t know he still had. Like, he was a long lost puppy wagging its tail for its master and it should be a disgusting imagery and yet it felt like he might start wagging right there and then. But he also knew he never met a memorable person like him. Never.
Who are you?
“You’re rude! Do not call Lambo-sama as ‘you’. Lambo-sama has a name!”
Byakuran looked at the child wearing a cow-patterned onesie. His interest peaked as his heart continued thumping a familiar feeling on his chest, the low burning on his guts, the rearranging of his inside as it churned and squirmed and he fought the urge to laugh and cackle and grin because right in front of him was a precious mystery box. A boy who called himself Lambo-sama. A boy with green and orange eyes.
Hey, why do you look familiar? Why do I feel like I know you even though we never met? Who are you?
And more importantly—“Have we met before?”
