Hii! I just wanted to pop in and say hi, I love you and your blog. This fandom has always been exhausting and even more so lately, I guess everyone is a bit on the edge with everything that's happened/we're anticipating on happening. But in all the chaos I really love how thoughtful and kind you are. And I absolutely love your art and fic recs! I'm also the anon who theorized about Twin Peaks with you when Walls mv came out. I've been watching this 4-hour-long YouTube video by the user (1/5)
Hi darling!! SO nice to hear from you again. And thank you so much for your nice words about my blog (and art etc). I’m so glad it feels like a little respite in the craziness here. LOL.
And all these thoughts about David Lynch and creativity are so interesting! And yes, I can totally see where he’s coming from with the idea that there are right answers. An artist may not care that you interpret their song, for example, in one way even though their intention when they wrote it was another. But for us to say “this is definitively what the artist meant” is not the same as saying “this is what it means to me”.
And the concept of how much do they want to be seen and known and understood vs what is something that’s just for them, is so fascinating. And I agree they shouldn’t have to explain any of it. It’s sad to think that they’d want to be more forthcoming, but can’t.
There was a blogger who said something so interesting about H/L’s songwriting recently (I think it was @dogthatliampaynedoesntinstagram). I’m paraphrasing, but... they said basically that when Louis writes, he doesn’t mind lying, but wants to be understood. Whereas Harry doesn’t like to lie, but doesn’t care if he’s understood. I don’t know that they’re right, but it was such an interesting way to look at it.
Thanks so much for this. It’s really something to chew on and think about. I hope you’re well! 💕
