This year’s art output was a bit strange, but here’s all my biggest/most favorite/learned-the-most-out-of-them pieces of the year. Notes below!

JAN - “Haunted Siblings are Haunted,” Sweetheart and Ruma Camoran ; This was one I had taken from a notebook sketch to digital format. I usually don’t like doing that because my proportions on notebook sketches can be weird, but I remember having fun with that one :] And the lighting ended up being very nice.

FEB - “CASPINA!” Caspina/Caspian, Glarthir, Sweetheart, and Baurus ; I made like nothing for February lmao. The Caspina doodle page was just a silly one to include and started the first ideas for Caspian’s and Baurus’s sibling rivalry relationship.

MAR - “Normal Dinner Time,” Iren ; I remember this one just being an excuse to fuck around with some edits and colors. I really liked how the knife color turned out and how the hand positions came along. I need to draw Iren more.

APR - “Dawn is Breaking!” Mankar Camoran ; This piece was massive and sat in my WIP pile in the colored stage for so long before I got around to rendering it. It reminded me why I hate drawing backgrounds and geometric shapes but I think I was able to get around most grievances pretty okay! I ended up not being super satisfied with his outfit but the piece hasn’t lost its fondness on me yet.

MAY - “that new death animation huh,” Uriel Septim VII and Raven Camoran ; This one was a neat challenge. It was for an art contest which ended up being a blast over on the r/skyrim discord server. I don’t want to say I “struggled” with anything because I was never feeling despaired while making this piece, but a lot of things were certainly HARD to do. Raven’s hand position, getting the right angle on the Razor, the geometric shape of the Amulet of Kings, simplifying the Mythic Dawn mask, trying to figure out experimental proportions for Uriel’s face, I remember Uriel’s HAIR gave me grief too? Thinking back, there was a lot of stuff I had to do over, but I remember being really satisfied with the outcome. The only thing that I’d change looking at it now is how I rendered the blood, I don’t think the texture is very convincing or consistent, but even so I was pretty happy with it.

JUN - “Dori! (Gift)” Dori ; This was for a “Secret Summer Solstice” event. I got to mess around with Dori’s deep black markings and had a lot of fun with the lighting that way :]

JUL - “Trying Something Out,” Velehk Sain ; This was my face overhaul for Velehk, one that I’m still trying to absolutely nail down. Unfortunately for Velehk I’ve made her trans woman journey even tougher to accomplish in the process, but that’s all story stuff.

AUG - “ALL IS NUMB,” Baurus, Martin Septim, and Ruma Camoran ; I fucking loooove doing animatics. This one was really fun but also quite the challenge? I DID struggle with this one, absolutely. The first scene wasn’t bad; there was an angle turn on Baurus’s head that I struggled a bit with in the second scene; I aboslutely gave up on making a decent-looking Imperial City for that wide shot lol; the Martin scenes were fine actually I liked those; making Baurus run toward the camera didn’t come out perfectly but I was and am still proud of it all the same; Ruma taking off her helmet and the camera zooming into her eye is my favorite part; the camera zooming out of the sword is my leas favorite part just bc I really don’t like how I drew Baurus and the angle on his arm is all wrong, I’d love to redo that scene if I could; Ruma tackling Baurus was supposed to look way different and I’m still not absolutely sure it’s very convincing in the final product, but I think it’s okay enough to pass; final scene was fine I liked being able to do the red shatter again :]

SEP - “Echo is Having a Good Time,” Echo ; I remember drawing this after some fucking STRESSFUL days and it was a really good reliever. Any excuse to draw Echo boobs covered in blood tbh

OCT - “Ruma Armor <3” Ruma Camoran ; This one, WOOF. I remember I used to hate drawing so much detail on a single piece, but this one was really fun. I’ve been enjoying adding more and more details to my art and this was a really good way to demonstrate that. I think the only thing I’d change is her thigh armor and making her feet bigger (didn’t realize I had fallen into a habit of giving characters too-small feet) until ~a week after this got done lol).

NOV - “Sanguine Vampires,” Sam Guevenne and Echo ; The whole Sanguine vampire concept is one of my favorites, but the original idea only even started because I wanted to draw pirate Echo. Then I started thinking more and more and a few canvases just fell into place. I think Echo is very handsome and this story decision ended up being very beneficial for fic planning.

DEC - “Who needs lights anyway,” Sanguine ; I really enjoyed every part of this one. It’d been a while since I’d rendered something with glowing markings, so that was a bit tough, but I think I got into the swing of things after a bit. Fun fact, the original version of this image was actually completed in November, but I had to draw/edit on a loincloth for him to be able to post it to tumblr, and that only got completed in December, so I’m counting it as December art :]

I don’t have a lot to say for the end of this year’s wrap up. I was definitely a little less productive than last year but that was on account of 1) having an aboslutely shitty roommate my junior year that stressed me the fuck out and 2) senior year academics just kicking my ass in general. I’m not really that upset with the art output, I think I just need to learn how to manage commission timing a bit better, bc that + school + other creative focuses really bogged down my ability to make art freely and the subsequent enjoyment of that. And that’s my fault entirely, but a good lesson learned. When I re-open commissions, I might only open the smaller slots and leave the fully rendered option unavailable ú_ù just to give myself less of a workload.

Other than that, I’m on my last semester of undergrad and have applied to grad school. I’m not really worried about not being able to write during this, I’m just curious about how and when I’ll be able to finally start putting pen to paper with my fics. Unfortunately I am still in heavy WIP phase, though I’m thinking about changing up how I do planning so I can maybe get faster at writing the actual fic stuff? Idk yet. I’ve never felt a real sense of urgency to get TDI done (or even started for that matter, lol), and I’m having a lot of fun planning things out, but it’s kind of gotten to a point where ALL I’m doing is planning. So much of it is just my own divided attention and then repeatedly sanding out details and throwing out things that do and don’t work. I’ll try and give a good rundown of what I have so far.

I have the story. I have all the events of the story laid out, start to end, I know all of the big events and when they’ll happen. The things that I’m buffing out rn are connection points, getting from point A to B to C in a logical way, and filling plot holes and discrepancies. A lot of this year has also been dedicated to making better character arcs for the whole cast. I refined Rakell’s motivations, Sam and Miraak got MAJOR arc updates, I had to iron the fuck out of Ancano’s and Erandur’s arcs, Echo’s arc was more refined, and Delphine’s arc has gotten better through bouncing off of everyone else’s. So much of what’s left is just detail stuff: figuring out where conversations go, making sure I have enough character interactions between plot points, cutting out unneeded lore and reestablishing much-needed lore, all while trying not to get bogged down and maintaining flow. Once again, I will not make any promises for TDI to start next year, but damn it feels good to hope.

So, that’s really it. Thanks for all the love on my blog :] I also had an event happen this summer that made me realize I have not been making a very good fandom experience for myself, and it was only a couple weeks ago that I finally finally felt like I was able to interact with the fandom without isolation or insane guards being up all the time. Again, that’s been a me problem, but one that’s gotten fixed :] I’m really looking forward to another year and posting more silly shit. Mmmwah everyone UзU

2024: A Re-Entry to Fandom

I guess this is a thing? (Oh shit this brackets bit was written at the end and I appear to have emotionally vomited an essay. Sorry ‘bout that.)

In late 2023 I experienced a personal tragedy and retreated to where I had always found comfort: books.

I read a series that had been recommended to me before, but I hadn’t had time to read it - The Simon Snow Trilogy by @rainbowrowell and it awoke a dormant-but-never-forgotten love of fanfiction in me.

In my teens and early 20s I wrote a lot of fan fiction on the ol’ FF net, all of it of atrocious quality I’m certain, which is why I haven’t tried to rediscover that account.

Instead I found AO3, and restarted regularly writing for fun instead of for work or study/research.

I didn’t do any summation for 2023 because I think my first fic was posted on like 10 December 2023, but AO3 tells me I wrote 4 works, all SnowBaz, at a total of 55,154 words.

In 2024, I’ve published 5 works, at a total of 94,323 words.

What truly blows me away (and honestly makes me a bit teary) is the 1013 kudos, 100 subscribers (inc 15 subscribers to just me rather than a fic!), and 222 comment threads on my works. 🥹

Precious to me for not only getting to work with Alex, but also for being the beginning of my relationship with Becky @rbkzz, my incomparable beta who has become one of the dearest people in my life.

On The Rocks, SnowBaz, Rated: E, 74,592 words (WIP)

My opus, as it were. It originated from a fluffy cute prompt of “what if Baz and Lady Ruth were work besties?!” And I came along like “YEAH! But with trauma, exploration of love in mental illness, and alcoholism!”

I began posting it in March and it’s about 2/3 done now. But for Becky it would be both an absolute pile of horse poop, and an abandoned WIP. Instead it has a clear direction and she found motifs that I’d repeatedly used by accident in my drafts and built imagery, greater meaning, and also debated me ad nauseam on my preference for spelt over spelled.

I was a big consumer of WolfStar in my teens and was recommended Lumosinlove’s Sweater Weather and, like many before me, fell in love with the story, the original characters, and ice hockey itself (much to the surprised glee of my Canadian spouse, who for a decade has tried in vain to get me on board. Little did he know the key was obviously gays.)

This is a lil’ slice of life sick fic examining how each of the Cubs responds to getting sick.

I have a lot more unpublished drabbles about these characters and some fics that are being cocreated so stay tuned for 2025?

Preliminary, my dear Basil, SnowBaz, Rated: T, 1,494 words

A gift fic for @martsonmars as part of the Carry On Discord’s Secret Snowflake Exchange.

Among their suggestions was “Sherlock AU, but not BBC Sherlock, 19th century Sherlock” and it hooked me with the idea that Baz would absolutely fancy himself as Sherlock. I actually sketched out a plot to SnowBazify 4 of the Holmes stories, so maybe 2025 will see them unearthed.

There is one other published fic I worked on this year, but as a beta rather than a writer for @swoopswrites @rsbigbang piece Class A which was super fun to do (and got me to watch a great series - The Gentlemen on Netflix) and Swoops has a fantastic mind so I’d encourage you to to check it out.

Finally, I have always been a writer rather than an artist, but I do enjoy drawing, and the need to upgrade my iPad for work arose and so I also tried my hand at drawing again for the first time since I was 17 or so.

Stitches and Sentences Roundup 2024

Thanks for the tags on your writing round ups @run-for-chamo-miles, @drowninginships, and @emeryhall! I just got back from a weeklong trip and instead of doing laundry, I'm joining in on the roundup fun.

FIC I moved from lurker to active fandom participant this year with a bang. I posted my first fic ever for EGF and have basically been writing or posting non-stop since then. I wrote/co-wrote 5 fics this year and clocked in at 101, 725 words.

Kill Em With Kindness - rated T, 6.5k, Watford-Era, getting together fic

When no one seems to care that Baz is sad, Simon steps in to help. The only reasonable explanation for all Simon's kindness is that he's trying to kill Baz, right? (My most popular fic as measured by kudos.)

Knock Your Socks Off - rated T, 4k, Watford-Era, 7th year fic

Baz steals Simon's socks. Simon blames the sock monster. Chaos ensues.

The Eternal Life of Baz Pitch - rated M, 42k, Addie LaRue AU, a truly epic romance

Told in two alternating timelines that span from 1700s Hampshire all the way to early 2000's Washington, DC, this fic follows Baz as he spends centuries searching for the love of all his lives. (This was the fic that convinced me I could write long and holds a very special place in my heart. Is it angsty? Yes. Is it some of the most beautiful prose I've ever written? Also yes.)

The Boy Next Door - rated M, 47k, and they were neighbors AU, a coming of age romance

When Simon moves in with his gran, he decides to befriend the mysterious boy next door. He changes both their lives in the process. (My most popular fic by literally every other measure.)

ART I do not currently have a great way to track my dolls and searched my Instagram to do the math, only to realize I hadn't posted every doll I made either! (If anyone has a good art tracking system, I'm open to ideas.) If my count is correct, I clocked in at a grand total of 35 dolls this year, including:

The picture below shows my earliest dolls, where I was still experimenting with style and form. As you can see, many of them are quite flat. (Fun fact: All of these dolls--including their clothing--were made before I owned a sewing machine.)

Going 3D was actually an accident, but we have the Watford Baz and Simon below to thank for it! After committing to 3D dolls, I kept evolving my pattern---improving joints, proportions, and adding details like ears!---until we reached my most current iterations.

Now every doll has their own special pattern that takes into account their canon proportions, where available. Notice Baz is tall and slender where Simon is extra fluffy!

I did not include any of the dolls I created for COC 2024 since I assume everyone has seen them already, but I linked the master post in case you missed a day.

Finally, in addition to dolls, I also created 2 plushies (a merwolf and a bunbaz) plus 12 finger puppets this year.

It's hard to quantify dolls like fics, especially since almost every doll before COC did not have a dedicated tumblr post. However, here are some fun art stats:

✨Writing/Art Roundup Tag 2025✨

2025 is finally coming to and end (thank god /j), and so I decided to make a writing/art roundup thing, to list what I accomplished and created this year :) I'll also be tagging my fanart as well.

✨FANFICS:

For the fics I worked on this year, I very early in February updated my Luck of the Sea fanfic, which is an Asher/Baabe focused Mermaid AU. This and another fic are on my radar to update again in the next year and focus more of my time on.

Also very early this past February, I had added a small Asher/Baabe story to my Stories of the Shaw Pack oneshot collection.

I wrote a little one-shot called Like a Little Mango of David and Angel, where they adopt a little kitten from the Dahlia Humane Society.

I also wrote two more chapters for my Shaw Pack and Solaire Clan Tattoo Parlor/Flower Shop/Gang AU story, which is called Daffodils & Tattoos.

And then early this past June, I managed to add another chapter to my Welcome to the Pack, Darlin' fic, which is a teen Shaw Pack fic focused on Darlin's first year coming into and interacting with the pack, after their parents move them from Washington down to California. This fic is first on my list to add another chapter.

And then, I have been writing the winter blurbs for my little winter event, where I had people spin a wheel with words to choose 1-2 words, and request a couple characters, for me to write them a little blurb. Those will be posted early/mid January 2026 and should be all posted by the time February 2026 comes around.

✨FANART:

I started 2025 with drawing fanart for @thesolaireslawyer for his "Ain't Sayin'' fanfic of Sam and Asher. While the Sam design is a bit funky to me, I also really like lighting I did in the image.

I also made fanart of Gavin in a pink butterfly corset.

Along with that I made chibi fanart of Huxley, Gavin and a white blob form of Freelancer make flower crowns and chilling outside.

I also made fanart of Gavin/Freelancer for Valentine's Day, which I think is really cute with all the flowers. (Freelancer is also a white blob shape of a person in this one too). (As you can see, Gavin has been a favorite of mine to draw this year XD)

And then we have my two fanart pieces I made for @taelonsamada's Between You Me and the Fence Post fanfic, which you can read on Ao3.

The first one is fanart of a scene where Milo is trying to get a Clydesdale horse to get used to having someone be around him.

And then I drew fanart of another scene of Darlin' and David out on a trail ride for cousin bonding time :) (cuz they're cousins in the fic).
