I bind books right- usually notebooks or project Gutenberg classics etc, and occasionally fanfic when I just can’t live without it (or for friends)

Why is it so many people’s first response to be like ‘you should sell that’ NO. NO ITS A CRAFT. ITS FOR FUN. ILL GIVE IT TO YOU. I’ve made over twenty books but I only have 4 to myself. I’ll gift it you. To anyone. But selling that would a) be illegal, in the case of fanfic (rip to my friend to had to listen to my angry rant about the history of fanfic when he said that) and b) defeat the point!!! It’s a HOBBY. I do it along side work, and uni, for FUN. It wouldn’t be fun if I did it for money bc there would be pressure to make everything perfect when half of the beauty of a handmade book is the little imperfections that make them unique and NOT machine made.

Idk about anyone else but I feel so uncomfortable publishing fanfic in the marauders fandom or even talking/discussing HCs and meta etc. like under every post here people are attacking/getting attacked for ships, characterisations, characters- and it always feels like you’re wrong? Im all for individual interpretation and I’ll never yuck anyone else’s yum I just won’t engage with it but apparently a bunch of you didn’t get the memo.

A lot of it seems to be ship wars (y’know what- sure. Ship wars exist in every fandom whatever I just wish people tagged more appropriately), fanon vs canon (which for me is a little blurry bc I gravitate towards canon characterisations but also I can’t pretend like I know much about the ho canon and honestly I don’t want to reread the books because I’m not interested in stuffing JKRs awful and blatant bigotry in my own face), and then there seems to be nearly a generational divide and the handheld superiority complex that goes along with it about what stages of the marauders fandom was the best and how it sucks now. I think this is an interesting one since my main fandom is >15 years old and this issue doesn’t seem to exist.

It makes me a little sad because i genuinely love fandoms and interacting with fandom and writers and artists but yeah i just find it so uncomfortable here. But at the same time i want to interact and see the art and fic and creation that comes out of it but ugh at what cost man.

Yesterday I went to the dentist and got a tooth extracted, so I woke up at 1am in need of pain meds... Got hungry so ate food. Been scrolling through tumblr waiting for the gud shit to kick in.. Still hungry and contemplating eating more food.. When a giant spider crawls across the floor and under my desk. I flipped out but have no idea whee it's gone so I can't even kill it mother fucker... Selling concert tickets literally a year in advance is kind of a dog move like tf if I know what I’m doing in October next year. Especially if it’s reasonable to assume that the venue will sell out anyway. I understand Australia is a long way away but like cmon
