Hii Forest! It's been a long time, I hadn't even realized you changed your icon! Did you see the new camp camp special, if you did what did you think?

HELL YEAH I DID! That's why I'm back, babeyyyyyy!

I'd love to do one of my masterpost scream rants at some point, but a quick and dirty rundown of my thoughts:

The animation is beautiful. It's gotten better every season and damn it's breathtaking this ep.

30 minutes?! They spoil us. It had multiple arcs and I am living.

Makkiel discovering what friends are? Adorable, probably the best part of the episode. Because yeah, they're annoying to the other campers but sometimes you do rag on your friends. It was super cute watching them develop social skills like the actual people they're gonna grow up to be.

The changes to Dolph were fantastic. Don't think they could've done it better and his new look? Instantly iconic.

The new voices were fine. I have to get used to them, and Gwen's especially was a little jarring, but they did a perfectly good job. It's just an adjustment. Max's VA in particular (Krishna Kumar, I should learn these names) was great, and a friend suggested the lower-pitched voice might be puberty kicking in and I adore this headcanon.

The Gwenvid in this ep? Living. Screaming. Crying. I don't want it to be canon but this is as close to canon as I want it to get and I am hyperventilating. He chose her over his obsessive need for positive validation (via social media friends) and they hugged TWICE.

That being said, if Gwen is actually gone . . . I might be done with the show. I hate saying that, because it feels a lot like "I'm taking my toys and going home" temper tantrum realness, but I'm so attached to this character, to me it's like if David or Max left. Like, no ma'am, I cannot do it. I'm hoping she returns in a suitably delightful and depressing-for-her way, but we'll just have to see what 2024 brings. I'm hoping they didn't hire Kaitlin Becker (see, I'm learning their names!!!) just for a single episode and then drop her, but who knows? I just hope the Team Team realizes how important my wife is to the show, because she is perfect and fabulous and everything I need.

That being said, I have zero idea where they're going with the next episodes. Like none.

Anyway, yeah! I liked it a lot. Hopefully a sign of great things to come.

LOL I’ll answer for him- Forest is what’s called a Special Task Agent. He lives outside of the city on a family farm (currently is the only resident there). He can play the detective role, but He’s mainly only called in to his job when they need a specialist to complete an important task.

What do you think abt the hc of david and pikeman being related

Ooh, this is an old hc, isn’t it??

I think it’s cute! Obv I don’t subscribe to it, but I think it’d be super fun if pikeman was this competitive baby brother who’s constantly trying to one-up David, who has literally no idea his little bro hates him. He thinks it’s just friendly competition, but Ed is out for fucking blood.

Oh wait, I just realized this means David’s name would be David pikeman. I’m not sure how I feel about that. Don’t know if I enjoy that mouthfeel.

Tons! Have some nonsense (apologies if I’ve said any of this before, but I’m on mobile and checking is a bitch):

Harvey Greenwood met Cynthia Pine when he visited a small Canadian town for some sort of niche sales/marketing conference, which she was working as an hourly employee. They dated for a few months before he knocked her up, and they got married very quickly after.

He was 31 and she was 17. Ew.

Their marriage did not go well, and he walked out when David was 14, at which point Cynthia went from a homemaker to taking on several minimum-wage jobs while she went to school at night. David is their only child together.

Cynthia is in her early 40s at the time of the show, and one of the toughest, take-no-shit-est women out there thanks to her really unhappy early adulthood. Despite all that, she’s unfailingly cheerful and warm, and is the source and inspiration for David’s “smile in the face of disaster” attitude. David is much more oblivious and optimistic than his mother, but they have that same core of sunshine. She’s very protective and…well, motherly, and she thinks David is the best, most remarkable person in the world.

After leaving his wife and son, Harvey moved back to America and eventually remarried a nice young woman in her mid-20s. They have 3 kids and…I mean, considering the kinda guy Harvey is, probably also a terrible marriage, albeit a longer-lived one because he hasn’t walked out on this one yet.

Harvey sends David birthday cards once every few years, when he remembers David exists. These never arrive in the same month twice and are always the wrong year.

Cynthia is tiny, with David’s birdlike frame and big green eyes. Her hair is very pale and wispy, like duck fluff. She kinda looks like a porcelain doll. (Don’t let it fool you; she’s a middle-school librarian, which means she can strike fear in the brattiest of 12-year-olds.)

David got his coloring from his dad, who was also red-haired and fair. He’s a big guy with a big mustache and a big voice, and can be brutally charming when he wants to be. If you’re getting pre-reformed-Campbell vibes from him, good. That’s what I was going for.

I guess this makes David American on his dad’s side and Canadian on his mother’s. He grew up in Canada and has a strained relationship with his dad, though, so he considers himself pretty exclusively Canadian. (Ethnically it’s all Swedish, French, and Irish on both sides.)

David and his mom talk a lot—which is a deliberate attempt in Cynthia’s part to make up for how much she had to work while David was a teenager, leaving him to kinda fend for himself after school—and are generally very close. She worries about whether he’s actually happy, but has the sense to mostly back off and be supportive. (I basically made her the perfect parent because David deserves something good in his life. He’s suffered enough in canon and fanon; let him have a nice mommy.)

Wow, that’s a lot! I hope it’s even a little bit interesting. :)

-monster au where Gwen is a monsterfucker hunter and David (and Jasper??) is the least sexy vampire/ghost/werewolf/alien ever

-monster au that’s more like monster high. Now, I’ve never seen monster high (is it a show? I thought it was a show), but I’m pretty sure it’s where everyone is monsters and there are hijinks. I like hijinks.

-Gwen the marine biologist and David is a mermaid

-literally any “gwen is someone constrained by reason and David is a fantasy creature who tears her worldview apart but also is hot”

-mafia/crime/heist aus, where David and gwen are criminals with very different attitudes toward murder and other crimes. I know I wrote this but I wanna see versions I didn’t write

-professor/TA au, boss/secretary au, or any of those power imbalances that’d be super fucked up in real life but are fun in fiction. I just am a slut for the idea of David saying “no we can’t it’s not allowed” and Gwen like “I don’t see a fucking sign anywhere”

-can we do a buddy cop au without cops? Because acab, but also buddy cop dynamics are so fun

-rival anything. Especially rival camp counselors. Gwen the flower scout leader who hates the grubby nature peasants and their stupid cheerful obnoxious classless sexy owner

-fashion designer and model (either direction). Mostly because I like the idea of putting gwenvid in pretty clothes

-princess/knight au (either direction). Because it’s the pretty dressed thing plus like, bloodshed and shit

90% of these also can have kevdan or jaspvidwen variants, which makes them perfect bc I am shipping trash

Oh boy…okay well so fucking many but let’s see:

-fake relationship (preferably with mutual pining. Actually no, add “mutual pining preferred” to all of these. Everything is made better with mutual pining). Someone whose name involves the word “saint” started and abandoned a fic like this and it was really good, but I’d love to see it explored further!

-literally any time period that isn’t present day. Regency England? Old west? SPACE?! I don’t care, I just want fancy costumes

-grimdark shit: post apocalyptic, spy, mafia, etc. There was a wave of these for a while but it sorta lost popularity, which is a bummer

-can I say a/b/o? I’m sorry I’m a trash goblin

-Jasper! Jaspidwen is my ship of dreams and only like 2 other people sporadically make content for it. It is my life. Jaspwen is such a cute dynamic y’all don’t even knowwwww

There's a place called Greenwood Farms where I live and they got amazing pies. Makes me think about how David's entire family lives and runs this sprawling farm and his nana/grammy is the big boss who makes amazing pie.
