Seeing all these Manga panels of Sasuke's past with his family hits me right in the heart. You think his personality would have been different growing up besides his family???
(disclaimer to any one that wants to “well, actually-” me, yes I know this question is technically answered in canon, during that alt universe arc of shippuden, but I’m allowed to have my own theories!)
hmm this is a tricky hypothetical to answer because there are a lot of different factors at play. If Itachi hadn’t killed the Uchiha clan, then they would have gone on to initiate the coup, and then you have to consider what Sasuke’s life would be like had they prevailed in overthrowing the hokage or not. Sasuke still having his family also doesn’t change the fact that the Uchiha are kind of cursed. He would still have that rivalry with his brother looming over his head, pushed on by his father, as well as the “kill your best friend” dilemma.
He also, probably, wouldn’t have gotten the cursed mark? Since he would no longer be “the last uchiha” there’s not really any reason for Orochimaru to fixate on him so heavily. This would also help with stabilizing his mood.
And then of course, there’s team 7 and their impact. Whatever hypothetical hardships Sasuke endured as a child, without the curse mark or his drive for revenge, there’s not really any reason any more for him to leave. Sasuke gaining friends that he doesn’t have to abandon for a weird obsession with power gives him like +5 mental stability. He’d probably learn about the secret of the mangekyo and he and Naruto would have a big best friend dual/heart to heart but ultimately come away from it okay.
All in all, Sasuke with a family would probably show up being very similar to canon genin Sasuke, and grow into something that we see in a lot of fanon depictions of Sasuke: snarky, sarcastic, but overall more open.
woof sorry about the essay, I just cant stop *clenches fist* loving Sasuke
