Wait, are you the one responsible for the Eagle's turn order portrait? The birds' turns always go by so fast there's barely time to see them, but it made me laugh when I realized he was saluting and crying a single manly tear.

Yep, that's me! I did all of the non-player cat turn order portraits you see in game, including all the birds. Those are honestly some of my favorite portraits; the pigeon is especially no thoughts head empty lmao

Random question but, which enemy/boss was the hardest to make a turn order icon for? Like, which one had to go through a bunch of changes or just took a long time to look just right

The toughest ones for me weren't so much hard to draw, per say, but more of a technical nightmare for me to actually get them working right in game.

There are a lot of enemies that have a different form that they can go into and I made a corresponding portrait for the new appearance. Examples include Rat King and Spinneret when they go into rage mode, and the bone cat enemies when you make them fall apart. Enemies with one or two extra forms like this are easy to make since they just need an extra frame with a specifically named label on them. However, some of them had more forms to them that mix and match depending on what they do in-game, so I had to put had very specific labels, frame order, and properties into the flash symbols to get them to work properly.

Putting the rest under a cut cause it's a very late game Act 2 boss spoiler, plus mention of other late game bosses and enemies past that!

But yeah the real answer is Soahc because I had to make multiple frames with different properties in a specific order to get his portrait form changing work along side the in-game entity and it took way too long to get it the way I wanted it to show up in game.

He's the only one with a bunch changing of form variations I was able to get to work properly; I really wanted to get a similar thing working for Tormentor but the amount of combos he can have for his fight was too frustrating to try and organize and label properly. That's why his portrait doesn't mirror any of the buffs he can get in-game. And the Build-a-Stacy boss would've been even worse for me I'm not figuring out how to make 256 forms of Stacy work in a flash symbol LMAO

Question but how much do you know about the Kirby series? Because there's a certain blue fish from that series that kind of looks like Student (at least to me anyway)

I know a bit about the Kirby series, but I haven't played many of the games and am not that familiar with some of the deeper lore outside of what I've seen and heard from friends and mutuals.

The main games I've played are Kirby Superstar (the original SNES version), Kirby's Dream Course, Kirby 64, some Star Allies with bf (we got bored with it) and Forgotten Land (100%ed co-op with bf). I have recently been going through more of the series on NSO, however; I've completed DL1 and DL2, and I still need to play DL3 and Adventure on it.

As for Kine, yeah I can kinda see it and he's even got the funny colors in his palette lmao. Thank you for the ask!

The game is fun and the blue birds themselves are cute! Very tall leggy birbs I like em! I imagine they’re supposed to be some kind of stork?

I personally don’t have a lot of headcanons for them or their captain otherwise , so if you have any I’d love to hear them!

I don’t speak spanish, but from what I’m understanding you’re asking about this scene from a bunch of old sketch previews from a post I made in 2017?

Looking back at this old comic, even though I never fully posted it, it’s honestly pretty outdated with some of the interpretations I have for characters. And If anything’s to go by that off model 2017 J.J. there (which I hate looking at a lot lmao) it’s not up to my current art quality I’d like to have now. This would be a good redraw/rewrite candidate if I ever find the time/motivation 🤔

Haww thank you! Fun fact about that capsule: I originally made it back when the time capsules were first being privately implemented to test whether they could take custom images or not. As you can see, it worked lol
