My name is Consuelo...
I, too, aspire one day to win the battle of art like Maria. I must warn you that I dance quite well; I'm not exactly Anna Pavlova, but I can take on the most difficult dances. You should have seen me perform an authentic Dominican rumba. I've been promised that, soon, I'll appear in a movie. It's the dream of a lifetime. When I arrived in North America, I dreamed of being the wife of a millionaire. That parade of cars along Fifth Avenue in New York, the parties in the nightclubs, the society life—in short, I loved it. The contrast between the peace and solitude of our city was so great that contact with a vast, glittering world began to unsettle me. However, my focus now is on something else. I only think about my career. I practice every day, and I won't make my debut until I've reached full proficiency. I really enjoy playing tennis, horseback riding, and, above all, spending time by the pool or under this sun, which reminds me of the sun back home. I hope that one day I'll have the opportunity to work with you.
