Everyone forgets the clearly best cassette of all time and Soundwave’s most favorite, Autoscout 🙄 no one can do quite what it does…. Exist for a day and then die ❤️ dare I say one of the best performances in history!! But of course to be nice to the other cassettes Autoscout was very humble as to not exist in any other continuity 😌 so sweet

wada sez: Hahaha, this is the second Mosaic strip to basically exist solely to insert Circuit Breaker into some unrelated modern continuity where she’ll totally go on to do big and important things. The last panel here is absolutely chock full of similarly-inserted characters, which I’ve identified in the tags. On deviantART, Villa offhandedly came up with justification for why Shockwave might be on Earth, why the robot-hating Meltdown would be helping create a cyborg, and why Powell would even care, saying: “About Shockwave, I'd say he has a secret agenda: he's acting more than the G1 Marvel guy than the G1 cartoon one. Not so loyal to Megatron, he plans to remove Destronium from Earth because... well, it could be TOO useful to Megatron? Meltdown is a mercenary, in this piece, and owes Powell for something (maybe Powell got him out of prison... temporarily). Powell wants the Autobots destroyed, but doesn't want to be involved: so he builds a pawn that will destroy the Autobots for him. These are just lazy ideas... do they work? :)” No. Villa also explained the strip’s position in continuity: “this Mosaic *should* take place during Season 2, before Blurr revealed himself to the Autobots. I think it could work, because Shockwave never shows his "Longarm Prime modes", here...” How does this tie into yesterday’s strip? Well, you’ll find out in tomorrow’s! I think I’ll include the Autoscout from G1 as a cassette in the Nizziverse. Remember how I said some cassettes were designed for reconnaissance and exploration on new worlds? That’s Autoscout’s purpose, and alas, they’re intended to be expendable given the uncertainty of their occupation.

I dunno if Soundwave has Autoscout in the present or if it’s just in flashbacks, but if he does, they’ll probably appear in Revenge of the Fallen. I’ve already got two cassettes introduced in 2007 (Rumble and Frenzy), followed by two more in Dark of the Moon (Laserbeak and Buzzsaw). And I might add to the repertoire with Ratbat, and Reedman kinda counts doesn’t he? So it’s getting a tad crowded.

I’ve also noticed there’s a bit of a theming amongst the cassettes in their introduction here. First film gives us humanoid cassettes that can talk, then the second consists of non-speaking terrestrial creatures, or at least beings who don’t stand upright. Followed by winged, animalistic fliers in the third. At first I groused about introducing Ratbat in Dark of the Moon for this reason, but on second thought...

Anyhow, contrary to what their name might imply, Autoscout is not an Autobot. They are a Decepticon. Or were. Now they’re just scrap metal. Not to be confused with the Constructicon of that name.

M!A: all muses on the blog are the same shade of bright pink as shattered glass Fulcrum

Snare woke up, in his alt mode, extending his legs from under him. He stood up, shaking off and then transformed. He stretched his arms before noticing they werent their usual shade of dark purple-green. What the hell? He thought as he looked at the rest of his body, entirely pink. How? He thought, completely confused for a second before remembering that the color was the same shade of some other bot he knew, and said bot, to his knowledge, was one of few bots who had been on his ship before. He threw his hands up in frustration.

Drillhorn walked out of his building, heading towards the centre of the station. He bumped into another bot, who looked at him, a bit confused. “Wow, I havent seen you change colors at all since youve been here.” The bot said, walking off. He looked down at himself, confused, and saw he had become bright pink. He stepped back in shock, completely confused to why this had happened.

Autoscout rolled through the halls of the base they lived on, their tiny wheels making a kind of rrrr sound. They turned a few corners, not noticing that some cons around the base were giving them weird looks. They took a turn into Shockwaves lab, rooling up to him as he worked on something at a table he was sitting at. He turned as he heard Autoscout come in. He looked a bit suprised. “Change of colors, Autoscout? When was the last time you did that?” Autoscout, hardly being able to see their own body and so hadnt noticed, jumped in alarm. Shockwave hopped off the stoll he was on, crouching and outstretching his one hand so Autoscout could roll on. He lifted them up onto the table, and they rolled over to a mirror sitting on the near middle of the table. They looked in it, suprised by their sudden bright hue after being dark purple so long. Shockwave looked mildly confused. “Something wrong?” Autoscout gave a sort no gesture with their hand, before sliding off the table on to the stroll, and then to the ground. They rolled out of the room, forgetting why theyd gone to see Shockwave in the first place. They were suprised, but werent very upset. They figured they could just wash it off, as they doubted anyone would be able to give them a actual color change, with their old body and very tiny stature.

💡 What inspires you to write the muse?

Drillhorn: Hes just a guy. I think his regularness is what made me really want to write for him, cause I oddly find that interesting despite finding most my characters like that lame and uninteresting. I guess its different for him since unlike them he was developed to be that way, and is a fleshed out character

Autoscout: Honestly idk. I think its because they balance out the other two, with being very nice yknow? The other two arent always very polite and kind like they are

Snare: Hes just. Idk I just love him hes such a dumbass loser but hes also relatable.

Rob and Guy: my interest in them may not last very long, but I like writing for these two because it gives me a chance to explore what early cybertronians were like in mannerisms and looks and actions and whatnot. I also think their personalites are nice
