IDC what anyone says, John Green knows about awesome coffee
I just wanted to let you know that The Awesome Coffee Club's Octavia blend has ruined me for other coffee brands. I recently visited my mom and she regularly buys [insert Big Name Brand of coffee here]. While drinking it, I couldn't help but think how it wasn't as smooth, as rich, as delectable!
I started drinking Octavia more than a year ago, and now I don't think I could regularly drink anything else.

Boston Cream Donut Bones coffee and my new mug!!!🦈 🍩 ☕️ 💀
TIL that despite coming back to tumblr for essentially two reasons, the decline of tweeter and john green’s return, I failed to follow John’s account either my current main.
Why didn’t I notice the lack of posts you say?
Because the regular beating heart of time is an illusion. In reality, though that’s a strong way to say it, time slows down and speeds up randomly and in different streams of your life like that freaking loom in Loki. In my tumblr, time passing stream the summer was like last week.

Allegro Coffee (Wholefoods)
It's been a little while since Q and I dropped by Wholefoods (Q: we do love Wholefoods...we go there to eat all the time :S). They've gone through a bit of a renovation, with one of their main features including a super awesome juice bar. In addition, though, was their transformation of the flower shop area up on the second floor into a dedicated coffee space - Allegro Coffee! (Q: C was so happy! He loves coffee and hipster places) It's a stunning space with plenty of varied seating - bar type seating by the windows, small tables and chairs, and a larger communal table (Q: love the open and brightness of this space!). One of the advantages of being partners with Wholefoods is that Allegro Coffee seems to be able to serve the same delicious pastries that Wholefoods offers! [caption id="attachment_4668" align="aligncenter" width="625"] Great space on the 2nd floor of the Cambie Wholefoods[/caption] [caption id="attachment_4667" align="aligncenter" width="625"] Food options, wine, beer, coffee, tea.[/caption] For coffee, Allegro Coffee serves up brews using their own beans. What's quite interesting is that they have cold brew and single cup brews. I didn't get a chance to ask how they do their cold brews, but their single cup brews are brewed pour over style. Their single brew Ethiopia is quite a nice coffee - smooth and well balanced. (Q: didn't try the coffee because I was sick and doesn't want to pass it on to C) [caption id="attachment_4672" align="aligncenter" width="696"] Espresso drinks and tea menu[/caption] [caption id="attachment_4673" align="aligncenter" width="625"] Brewed coffee menu[/caption] Another really neat aspect of Allegro Coffee is that they serve wine and beer (Q: WOOT!)! They didn't have a wine/beer list when we checked them out, but I was told that a single serving glass of wine would be $6. They also have cheeses and meats for sale (Q: the charcuterie plate looks so pretty! Starts at $11/plate for plenty of meat, cheese and spread with crackers) . The best part, though, is definitely the fact that you can bring whatever you want from Wholefoods upstairs to eat! Q and I brought our lunch upstairs to eat while enjoying a cup of coffee. (Q: we've done that twice now, don't think too many people know they could bring food up for people watch) What does that mean? It means that you can go buy a pecan pie, cheese plates, or whatever else you want and enjoy it all with booze! [caption id="attachment_4670" align="aligncenter" width="625"] Our view from the top[/caption] (Q: although the space is open and bright, due to the high traffic and turnover of people, cleanliness is not exactly top notch. We have to move the dirty dishes and quickly wiped the table ourselves. I am excited to grab a few friends to have some wine and share a charcuterie plate! It is awesome that Skytrain is diagonally across. There is also underground parking. The rate is $3 for one hour or $6 for two hours. Minimal purchase is $10 to have the ticket validated. You will find C and I here ALL THE TIME at the table by the glass overlooking the market ;))
Revolver Coffee
Ever since I've started working, I've made due with the espresso machine we have in our office. It's not bad, but it definitely doesn't hold a candle to a lot of the independent coffee roasters/bars that I had frequented when I was in London (e.g. Monmouth, Notes Coffee, Nude Espresso, Kaffeine, and Dose). When I heard about Revolver, the description really reminded me of those cafes - hip atmosphere, brilliant espresso, and awesome brewing methods. I wasn't disappointed! [caption id="attachment_611" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Inside Revolver[/caption] I love the look of Revolver. It's minimal, but warm. The world map on the wall is a neat idea, and I love being able to see all their coffee and gear. It gets really busy, so it's a bit unfortunate that there's very limited seating space. [caption id="attachment_607" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Awesome selection of coffees.[/caption] Great selection of beans. I'll have to come back sometime and grab a small bag of each. The flask bottles are their cold brewed coffees - how cool is that! [caption id="attachment_608" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Menu[/caption] Revolver does the classics - Espresso, Macchiato, Cappucino, Latte, Brewed Coffee, and Tea. Just a heads up, there are no specialty drinks (i.e. mochas and etc) here. What's really interesting to me is that they have something called Tasting Flight and Brew Flight, where you can taste three types of brewed coffee or taste one coffee brewed three different ways, respectively. I came here with Q, her dad, and her uncle; I didn't want to hold everyone up with the Flights, so I went with the brewed coffee of the day. [separator] Revolver has an amazing set up for their brewed coffees that I haven't seen anywhere else yet (except in London where it seems like it's almost the norm). The regular coffees are brewed using a chemex! [caption id="attachment_610" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Love the chemex brewing method.[/caption] Freshly ground beans and perfect temperature for every single cup. Now that is quality. [separator] They have plenty of coffee gear, and if I had more time I would have stuck around just to stare at all their stuff. [caption id="attachment_609" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Espresso machine.[/caption] On their website you can see a full list of what they have: [one_half] [list type="bullet"]

[/list] [/one_half_last] Quite impressive! [separator] I didn't catch what beans were used, but the coffee tasted like a dark roast. Very smooth and with slight acidity. Their daily coffees apparently vary in pricing depending on what beans are used for that day, so don't expect to pay the exact same every visit! [caption id="attachment_612" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Chemex brewed coffee of the day ($2.50 today)[/caption] I'll definitely be back for a more thorough review in the future!
