Sullivan's Endo. Sullivan is supposed to have a doctor for general care too, but Nakagawa lets him do his annuals with him since he has such an aversion to touch. Nakagawa is one of the few people Sullivan lets touch him.
He was the one who suspected Klinefelter Syndrome for Sullivan after he was referred due to delayed puberty. It's extremely rare to diagnose in children. Sullivan had a very exaggerated expression, however and one of his studies of interest was intersex conditions. Genetic test and look at that. KS.
Fun fact: Sullivan was used for a case study for him! It allowed for free testosterone therapy.
He's never been a close-minded person, but he admits that he was ignorant. There was very little research or support for trans/intersex/LGBTQ+ and he fell into the biases of the education system back then. Bear in mind his academic years were in the 1980s.
His daughter came out as trans and prompted him to research more. He wanted to understand her and make her transition as safe and easy as possible. This was when he was deciding if he wanted to specialize. He decided endocrinology with a focus on hormone therapy.
Hormone therapy was still developing when he joined the field. He was scorned for his advocacy for gender freedom. He was fired from his first hospital because of his unwillingness to budge.
He is divorced. His wife felt that he was too busy with work to balance a relationship. He couldn't disagree and knew that he was not meeting her needs. They're on good terms, but she has moved on to marry another man. He remains single and is content that way.
He has three daughters. None of them want to be doctors. He teasingly complains about it
