I need to know how you mimic the voices in faith, I've wanted to find something like that for my own stuff but I have no clue how to do it 🥺

well, john’s voice is super easy! it’s just the default S.A.M voice :P

michael’s, well.. his requires a bit of editing (by a bit, i mean a lot)

so! first thing, i used this website to get the S.A.M text to speech thing! (it’s already set to john’s settings ofc, so you can go wild there lol) i recorded it using audacity, which is also what i used to edit michael’s voice

this is the base settings i used for him:

so, let’s just start with a random phrase

so once you got it loaded up in audacity, you’re gonna wanna duplicate it!

once it’s duplicated, i like to adjust the gain to about 8

then we go back to S.A.M, and tweak the voice setting just slightly

(i usually just kinda slide it to a random setting, but usually its in the 160ish range for mouth and the 140ish range for throat!)

record a second one, and add it in place of another duplicate layer, so now we have 3 layers of audio! the third, slightly different voice layer i usually put at about... let’s say -2 gain? so it isn’t as loud, but still present, giving it that kind of layered effect michael’s voice has going on in-game

for the drawn out “FAAaaaAAAAaaaaaTHER” in the faith/hlvrai meme i just took a recording of the base voice saying “father” normally, changed the tempo so it was slowed down without changing the pitch, and did 4 layers instead of 3! 3 unique voices in total. you can kinda just do the sliders with whatever you want for the 3rd voice, as long as it stays in a similar range to the first 2!

along with that, i had the duplicate of the original base voice having the “a” sound copied & pasted repeatedly in it to create an underlying “a a a a a a a a a a a a” in his speech!

for doing the the stutter-type noise in general (e.g. when i had him first say “passport”), here’s a quick tutorial on that! first you just take a little snippet of what you want to have stutter mid-word; in this case, i’ll do “r” in grass

copy it, then split the audio where you have it highlighted

then just go to town copying & pasting it in the space left til you’re satisfied with the result! (it is a little finicky though, so expect to get frustrated w this bit)

i also recommend paying attention to how michael says some words, since he doesn’t quite the same way that S.A.M does; for example, when i was doing my test voice for him, i had to spell out “unwillingly” as “un willing lee” because the text to speech wasn’t saying it the same way by default! so you may want to do that w certain words ^^

it’s not exact by any means of the word, but it passes and that’s all that matters; have fun & go ham!
