For lack of better phrasing out of the comet parents in this AU who are the best and worst as parents? Are any of the parents really bad?

Okay hmmm i dunno how to classify them because they’re all boad-ish in their own way, but they’re all trying!! Yes I’m completely coopting this to talk about the comet parents. Before I start- in my AU, the kindred lore DOES kind of exist, however none of the comet parents are kindred! I think that’s very important to mention. None of them have incestuous feelings.

Polly has Alzheimer’s and for that reason I wouldn’t call them a good parent? That’s not through any fault of their own, though. They don’t really remember their kids very well. He can be a little mean at times because he has no clue who these random people are or why they’re in his house. Before her Alzheimer’s developed to this extent she was a very good parent! She was would talk to the kids about their lives and make up stories and was very affectionate. The kids, especially the older ones, miss the way he used to be very much. So- I guess he’s the worst? But it feels really mean to say that because he literally has a neurodegenerative disorder.

Barry has always been a little more distant, on account of being the most busy with work. He has long hours and is the main breadwinner of the house. Not to say he was a bad father, because he wasn’t! He’s not very good at connecting with people. Ally was the easiest of his kids to connect with, because she loved the space and stars and science, but he really did always try to connect with all of them. As his kids got older, he kind of stopped trying to connect. He still cares!! He still buys them gifts and brings them food and makes sure they eat, he just struggles to make conversation. He’s always been strict, but lately he’s been a lot more irritable. He takes care of Polly a lot of the time, and its difficult on him emotionally.

Uni is the fun mom! She makes stuffies for the kids, takes them to get ice cream, remembers everything they like, and knows exactly what they want for holidays or hatchdays! That being said, she’s… not very good with emotions. The kids can’t go to her for feelings. She desperately tries to cheer them up, but it comes across as dismissive and like she doesn’t care.

Doom is also very bad with emotions, and is scared of showing affection. He is very sensitive to a lot of topics, and is scared of showing his kids how much he loves them. He knows its stupid, but part of him is still scared that loving someone can be used against him. That being said, he does his best. He provides for his family the best he can, he does a lot of the housework and drives the kids to and fro places.

So tldr- here’s my ranking

Best - Uni, Barry, Doom, Polly - Worst
