“On the Sea”
“On the sea” a gay-themed movie to look out for - BUT there is no wide release date yet. It premiered at the Edinburgh film festival in 2025 and played at a Palm Springs festival this year.
The film was written and directed by Helen Walsh and concerns a married middle-aged man (who farms mussels in Wales). He encounters a younger man that he becomes attracted to. Certainly, it echoes Brokeback Mountain and even The History of Sound. But there are no Hollywood stars, just authentic-looking working men.
I’ll go see it if it surfaces near me. But I long for a film about two men who aren’t suppressed. But I guess without guilt, there wouldn’t be a need to make the movie.
