As I was riding by bike to Mexicantown, I ran into the legendary Lee Canady, owner of Lee's Monroe Music, who helped Barry Gordy form Motown. Lee was being interviewed by Ryan Ellis, who has been telling his story on YouTube for the past couple of years.

Here are couple of my shots of legendary music man Barry Gordy at the 12th Annual MusiCares MAP Fund Tribute Concert at The Novo by Microsoft. I wored for Associated Distributors in Phoenix back in the 70s. They distributed Motown Records. At the time Smokey’s Crusin and Stevie Wonder’s Secret Life Of Plants were coming out. We had a company wide meeting introducing all of us to these new Motown releases. Aristarchus was in the mix that day with Alan Parsons Eve. That was my first record biz experience. On the night of of the MusiCares carpet I mentioned to worked for Associated to Barry. He generously thanked me for being a part of the team. I was greatly honored. Today is Barry’s birthday. He’s an amazing 91 years of age and he doesn’t look it. I know I say this a lot but I truly have no words to adequately express how I feel after spending 2 hours mere feet away from the truly iconic #DianaRoss tonight. Her guests alone (#StevieWonder, #BerryGordy, her children and grandchildren, more celebrities than I can list) would have been spectacle enough but to hear this woman sing, to hear her speak, to hear her tell stories, to watch her interact with the audience, to see that she is TRULY thankful and appreciative of everyone inside the @hollywoodpalladium tonight … it was an absolute honor to be in attendance. This concert was billed as a #OnceInALifetime show and that was no exaggeration. My heart and #Detroit soul sang tonight in celebration of @DianaRoss’s spectacular 75 years on this earth.
