On to project 3; a poster design based on a selected quote. For my poster, I have chosen, “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment,” by Ralph Waldo Emerson. I began by sketching out the most simple designs I could think of that would represent being unique or standing out. I didn’t want to use people and was thinking of a way to catch my viewers eye. This is where the above creation came from. I tried making it in different colors to see what would pop. I began with a basic black and white rendering. After showing some friends, the black poster with yellow lines seemed to win every time. Placing the quote around it was the most difficult part as some words were too long or too short and made it almost impossible to fit evenly. Even with all the lines and a quote filled border, it still felt like it was missing something: a border fill that gave it more flow. The dots really tied it together although the placement of the quote may require a little work to read. Over all, the process of creating this poster was fairly easy compared to mounting it on a mat board. The precision and caution was equivalent to that of brain surgery, but it all came together in the end.
