So my partner got me into the Simon Snow trilogy. Yes I'm late to the party.
But here's sum fanart after the first book regardless.
Simon being so hard headed that he refuses to let Baz pay for a single thing on their first date, despite knowing that Baz can easily pay for the whole date. Despite Baz showing up in designer. Despite the fact that Simon can barely afford groceries most weeks.
He refuses to accept Baz’s offer to pay because he’s weird like that. He hates feeling like he’s in debt. All his life he’s felt like he owes everyone something. Owes the whole world for his mere existence. A debt he could never repay, a bar he could never live up to. So he controls it where he can.
Growing up in care homes where he had nothing to his name really taught him to keep everything to close to his chest, both emotionally and literally. As an adult he has to restrain himself from the habit of stockpiling food—the compulsion to hoard anything he may need—because what if it all goes to shit again? What if he ends up with nothing and no way out?
It takes him years to heal from those rough days. It’s months before he’ll even let Baz buy him a coffee, let alone a gift. But Baz takes it as it is, he won’t push Simon’s boundaries unless Simon lets him. But one day Baz will spoil Simon with all he’s got. Show him how much worth he really has, and not just with material things.
Spoil him with love, too.
Nobody knows how important Dragon!Simon is to me. Dragon!Simon to me is just like regular Simon. This is just a glimpse into how Dragon!Simon my mind has become
fact is that after the humdrum and the mage are gone, simon goes into full on exhaustion mode. because he was on survival instinct for years and years, his body is secretly absolutely wrecked and the second he finally has real peace, he is EXHAUSTED. so he sleeps. so much. and literally anywhere. and baz loves it. simon falls asleep on baz on the couch, in the train, in the car. baz loves that simon feels safe with him and that he can finally rest. and since baz is most likely also exhausted, they have sooo many cuddle sessions, slow mornings and couch dates.

I wanted to finish the drawing I had started in honour of the most introspective and handsome vampire character ever created, the most profound and complex I have ever read about, and the character I have identified with most throughout my life (and there have been many, many obsessions over the last 16 years). I didn't colour it in, but I have exams coming up, so I don't have much time.
Anyway, I'll post it soon.
